By the way, fun thread. The "3 ECM..." thread is wearing thin.

That thread died a while ago.

Baker's car was based on a 79 body style
(unless he had another one after this one - idunno)

The WarBird looks based more from the early to mid 80's body style.

It's cool to see yet another PONTIAC powered funny car that was under the radar being built out there. As far as running a 5 second pass, you just never know. Perfect clutch, great traction, excellent driving, and a willing engine, and who knows? That car could be as light as 2250-2300 Lbs. with driver depending on weight of driver, titanium bellhousing, and aluminum block. Also looks to have decent aero body. Hope they make it to Norwalk.
If I remember right, the "Dirty Bird" came out of the box running very impressive numbers. Good luck to those guys.

He's not coming out of the box swinging..........low boost, timing, gets some seat time BUT it will be at Norwalk.
He's been working on it for 7 months, he's not in a hurry.

Generally, when a new car comes out of the gate swinging for the fences, they are a very experienced team, have tons of money and parts to burn, or are foolish. The "Dirty Bird" team had experience. These guys, much like us, seem to be taking a little more cautious approach. Hope they do well. At this level, with limited funds, a major misstep can set a team back for a long time or end the project.

I guess what I am trying to figure out is are they one of the old billet HP heads they used to make before they were cast or are they a newly made head with improvements. Sorta like a Super Wedge but in billet.
At any rate is very cool to see someone putting all the effort into something like this.
Thanks for posting the pics and all.

You could come to Norwalk and find out yourself, instead of 2nd hand info.

After i posted about the new WarBird probably not being Baker's car , i googled Dale Pulde race cars. And even his War Eagle had the Humps over the front tires at one point in time - like Baker's and Snake's .

The Eagle had about 3 or 4 different looking body profile/schemes
So , anything is possible with a little glass work and some grafting.

When the Eagle was styled as an 80's body - it looks a lot like the new WarBird.

WarBird looks Good ! Where ever it came from.
Hope it does really well and they have some big time fun with it.
