Loved my Continental convertor that I had in my 69 GTO with a stroked 400/462, perfect street/strip.
I could take off slowly like grandma with little to no slip, but mash the gas and all hell would brake loose.
My convertor was custom made to my cars specs.

Chris Straub cam? Yes I endorsed him, still do, incredible knowledge!
We don't know how that conversation between that guy and Straub went.
Those specs would not have been MY choice, IMO engine would want near 240 @ .050 for the same centerlines.
Many things the OP did not nail down with the combo, not close to blueprinted. Len Caverly recommended a very similar spec to the guy on 108 LSA and XE lobes. :O

Caverly outstrips Ruggles "experience" by a HUGE factor! Has is own dyno and competes in engine building contests porting his own heads.

As many said on Speedtalk, something was not what the OP thought, static CR whatever.

The owner INSISTED the engine was not pinging, then a few months later said "Maybe I wasn't hearing".

http://speedtalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=47890

A few months back I emailed Steve Coombes my specs for a 9.5 compression dport 455 with a good exhaust port, target strong between 3000 to 5000 RPM. 239 @ .050 intake 227 @ .050 exhaust, 108 LSA, 105 IC.

Is it possible that the pastry chef could be a bigger DOUCHE? Doubtful!

Thumbs up Continental

I am very pleased with my 13" Continental converter as well.

Driving normal around town and good flash when you hit the go pedal.

Driver had a hands off approach. LOL - at the 1/4 mile mark it was doing 163.4 mph
In another in car view top speed record run I love how something (boost) kicks in heavy at 180 MPH.

Koenigsegg IS innovation.
I'm not quite sure how this relates...but... My nephew has a Nissan GTR that tracks dead straight like that when all the driver assist stuff is on. Runs low 11's in 'R' / launch mode. 12's without the launch assist. The electronics make a driver out of anyone.

I'm not clear on what your personal experience is in the automotive field...or with Pontiac's specifically? ....Fill me in if you would

You get what you pay for. Most companies now give 1 free re stall now. Pro torque, UCC, PTC,FTI ....
I just switched to an auto and needed a converter. I was PM'd by a few on this site to spend the money and get a bolt together. Glad I did, I blew the tranny up 3rd time out. Took it apart cleaned it and put it back together.
My friend also has a bolt together, if you want it tighter or looser you order a stator to put it. I have another stator for mine too, but I like the tight one on the street. Mine is a PTC and love it so far.

"Is it possible that the pastry chef could be a bigger DOUCHE? Doubtful!"

Hey, I see you are using one of those POS Continental 10" converters. I'm sure it's fouling your spark plugs that you ran the other thread on. Better get up with the Donut Guy and have him pick a PTC converter for you. Based on his vast experience with torque converters for these Pontiac applications I'm sure you'll quit fouling plugs and you car will run a couple seconds quicker at the track as well!.....LOL....Cliff

Here's a few pics of the 9.5" converters we are currently offering. Have sold quite a few of them and getting excellent reviews on them. Even so, after reading this thread and other various comments from folks who don't even have a Pontiac powered car that moves I'm going to start burying these in the back yard instead......Cliff
