Looking for advice, tips etc for installing the chrome vertical weatherstrip molding that is on the leading edge of the qtr window glass. Its fighting me a bit so I must be doing it wrong.

On my first try....the rubber setting tape tore along the glass edge from the scissor action of the molding being pressed onto the glass. What have you guys used for lubrication when setting glass in a channel? I have used liquid dish soap in the past but later had problems with the glass coming loose so I tried installing it dry this time but was unsuccessful.

Any ideas?

Have you tried different cus words? I think I used the dish soap, it's been a few years but I believe I put the strip on the glass then put it in the channel. The wrestling match was try to put all the pieces back together with the new weather stripping, but I didn't have anyone to help me hold it together.

Didn't get too verbal.....yet.
I will try the setting tape on the glass and see if that works better. I put it in the channel the first try....that was a no go.
I saw in the old Fisher Body manuals from the 1950s where it recommends using motor oil for lubrication. Seems like that might dissolve the setting tape a little bit but maybe that is the idea?

I don't want to glue the molding on....I want the original look that comes with using the setting tape.
