Default Anyone else had Aerial Photos taken of their place

Hello Everyone,

This is probably more for folks who live out in the country like myself.

One day a gentleman stopped at my place while I was cutting grass. Since I am a transporter, I am rarely home, so he lucked out. I live way out in the country & except for the occasional J.W. we never get sales people. He proceeded to show me a framed 24x18 aerial photo of my "compound" To say I was amazed at how great it looked would be an understatement! They had taken the pictures months ago & the best part is they must have taken them just after I had arrived home from a trip or was just preparing to leave on a trip, because you can see my dually & enclosed trailer parked by the house (normally both trucks & trailers are inside the shop) Also shown is my pen for the dogs just behind the trailer. I was able to narrow the time the picture was taken by the fact that the building addition was complete, but I had not finished the two tone on the north side of the building yet.

God bless
Bill

Almost every year and I am not pleased about it. But then, Google Earth is worse. Not too pleased about some stranger taking photos of my property. Whatever happen to privacy?

People have been taking aerial photos of farms probably since the airplane was invented. Most old time farmers I know have a picture of their place hanging on the wall that was taken in the 40s, 50s or 60s.

I am well aware of this fact! The idea for the post was maybe others that had the pictures of their shops taken would post them.

That’s nothing...have you ever seen the car with the video camera on top...taking videos of every street and house in America ? You can type in an address of your child hood house in another state from 50 years ago.....and see it ,right on the puter....plus you can scroll down the street too.....

Yes have had 2 different photo's taken about 20 years apart. 2 different company's.
They come around and show you the pictures all framed up to try and get the most out of you.
We usually talk them out of the frame and get it cheaper after telling them we don't want it, they will come down.

I was responding to the tin foil hat guys...personally, I think they're pretty neat.

I found some aerial photos of my home town on the state history center website, one of them has a pretty good view of my parent's house from when I was a teenager.

Bills auto, nice looking place you have. I like the pic. There was a small airport (flat spot carved out of the corn field) a mile or two down the road from where I grew up and live now. There would be a guy that flew out of there and did the same thing. Mom and dad had one done of their house. This was probably 40 yrs ago now. Airport has since been turned back into a cornfield though and all of the old timers that flew are long gone.

I have one of those pictures of my grandparents place in very rural Kentucky. Its priceless to me now that they have all passed away. Reminds me of happier times.

The guy came to our house 3-4 times before he caught us on the back porch. it's always the same salesman bs.... Usually we charge $500, but today you can have it for $XXXXX. I overpaid a little at $125 but It was a nice picture, and strangely, the frame matched the trim in our house perfectly.

I had one come in and take some aerial UAV shots on my house in So Cal when I sold it. Realtor told me she had been doing it lately and saw a notable increase in views that had the shots.

Seemed to work. My house was on the market for all of like 48 hours, and led the area in views on zillow. I would recommend for anyone looking to sell their house.
