daduck and Greg Reid are both right, 1977 was the start of musical BOP engines at GM. A lot of people still don't realize there were 4 completely different 350 engines, Buick, Chevy, Olds, and Pontiac. The only thing they shared aside from some tune up parts was cubic inches. The bores and strokes were different. The standard engine in a 77 Grand Prix was the 301, except in the SJ, which could have a Pontiac 400 EXCEPT in CA, where it came with the 403 Olds due to emissions requirements. GM got sued by many owners who bought a Pontiac with a Buick, Chevy, or Olds engine, or a Cutlass with a Buick engine, etc. Then came the downsize in 1978 and it became common practice but 1977 was the first year. I worked in the parts dept. at the Buick, Cadillac, GMC, and Pontiac dealership from 1976-78 and saw this firsthand.

Don't worry about the snide comments, but there really is no way to give you an accurate value without more information. I have owned 20+ of the 73-77 GPs. Great cars, but still under-appreciated.
