I have the old style of reproduction rally gauges ('69 GTO) which don't have a circuit card. They are point to point wired, the actual gauges are not separate pieces but are built into the housing.

As some of you probably know, externally they look very similar to the OEM Pontiac setup. The only real difference is that the temp gauge is backward for some reason. 250 is at the top and 100 is on the bottom. It was the only repro available at the time. Now they make a correct repro, but I don't want to spend another $369 to replace the entire cluster.

I bought a repro rally gauge face for $34 from The Parts Place that is correct. I want to install it on the old-style set that I have. The question is this: Can the gauge be wired opposite and work correctly?

Keep in mind, there isn't a circuit card, so it would be in parallel, not series, so no chance of shorting anything downstream. I would just be switching the polarity on the temp gauge only.

Basically, I just want to know if a temp gauge can be wired opposite and swing the other way. Thanks!
