I just realized that yesterday marked my 37th year at this transit authority (MARTA). I've worked at 6 different crafts at this company over that time.
Apprentice bus mechanic Entered the Electronics Tech training program and switched from being a mechanic's apprentice in the 'Bus Transportation' side to being an E.T. on the 'Rail Transportation' side. After that, Faregate Technician Radio Communications Tech (my favorite) Rail Car Engineering Lab Tech (second favorite) Automatic Train Control Tech Now, under contract with the authority as an Inspector. That means, I watch other people work now.

I've been a veterinary technician for over 25 years. 12 years were spent in rehabilitation and research of birds of prey. These days I specialize in diagnostic imaging; radiology, ultrasound, CT, and MRI. Mostly on small animals (dogs and cats) although we have some more exotic stuff thrown in there. Zoo animals are always interesting. If you've never seen an adult male lion getting a CT scan, it's quite a site. Worst smell award goes to a gorilla getting an MRI hands down!

I have owned Bill's Auto Works since 1983
It started out as a body shop, Southern body parts sales & transport of cars. About 15 years ago I got tired of the everyday paint & body work, got rid of the employees & transitioned to customer paint & restorations, while still keeping the transport business going. Eventually the body parts sales fizzeled out & the transports have taken over everything to the point of not taking in any customers cars for probably 10 years. Heck I can't even find time to work on my own. Funny, I could not have imagined how things would turn out when I opened 36 years ago! God bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...closed.614419/

I work as an IT director for the University of CO. My team is responsible for enterprise applications and services. Started at 24 years old and have been here 17 years. Another 13 and I'll retire with a full pension at 54yrs old, then I can work wherever I want and "double dip" (or not work at all).

Retired - 5 years at John Deere producing tractors, 34 years at Ford Motor Co. in Sales and Service. Went through many ups and downs as both industries (farm and automotive) were cyclical.
Can’t say enough good things about both companies.....great to work for and grateful that I was able to provide for my family. |

I am an engineering technician for GM in the Global Vehicle Safety Center. I work mainly in product litigation support. I used to build power train prototypes from 1986 until 1995, then I built court room displays defending GM in court. I will have 30 years in at GM in October.
