I'm not gonna floss my butt anymore with 80 TA's thread, but I was FINALLY able to install the procal software on my windows 10 desktop.

I might start a thread on it in the boost/EFI section. I used the FiTech FB user group JLMounce linked, and eventually found the right info. It was a little tricky, but good now. It seems odd that I manufacture the world's most advanced processors, but I'm a little slow from the software side of things!

I think you had a lean backfire when you heard the explosion. I know you stated the pressure was ok, but your volume could be low. I would be looking at fuel delivery, make sure you don't have any restrictions in your fuel lines/hoses. I have seen the lack of fuel cause these exact symptoms you are describing.

Install vacuum gauge on intake see if gauge fluctuates when problem happens if it does ,try pulling plug wire one at a time till reading fluctuates less will tell you which bank pull that valve cover ,probable broken valve spring ,bent pushrod or broken rocker arm ,don't think cam happened to fast

I'm pretty sure it was all in the ignition. I can for sure say that the adjustable rotor was loose and probably bouncing the spark signal at higher rpms. After finding the #4 plug looser than I would have liked, I checked all of the plugs today. 6 of the remaining 7 were loose. I was using a 6 inch ratchet to tighten them so its not like I had a ton of leverage. They weren't loose in the threads loose but barely snug.

I never would have guessed to check the torque on the spark plugs.

Talk about a world of difference. The AFR trims were really having to work for the first couple of miles. MAP readings were way lower. I had a 350 Pontiac in a Lemans with really low miles back in the day. All original with the #48 heads. Talk about a smooth and quiet motor. My 468 is now getting close to that level. Night and day difference.
