Meth injection ?
I have a snow kit I never used. Anyone use the meth injection? I had one on a 89 TTA I had, but have not used it on my current Pontiac. I ran 26 psi on pump gas with the V6 TTA. My Pontiac makes plenty of power the way it is now, plus 26+ psi would probably kill the stock block pretty fast. I was just wondering how anyone likes the injection, pro's and cons.

I've tuned a couple of boosted EFI cars with a 50/50 mix of water/meth and both cars picked up substantially. One was a 66 Mustang with a centrifugal supercharger and no intercooler, just sent the discharge pipe straight into the hat, but we couldn't feed any timing into it because the air temps were through the roof. Picked up like 100HP through just being able to feed more timing into it once we switched the meth on under boost because the air temps dropped massively. The other was a turbo 5.3 LS car with an A/A intercooler, but the air temps in summer were hopeless so I setup the meth nozzle after the intercooler but before the air temp sensor. That car on a blazing hot day (in the 100's) would have air temps between 85-95*F with 13lbs of boost. At the Summernats car festival we have here on their hub dyno it made 600rwhp and the city is at 2000ft elevation. Both meth systems were home built things cobbled together with cheap eBay parts including a Shurflow water pump (I think was the brand) with Viton seals.
I'm a big fan of meth on boosted cars. The other alternative is flex sensor + e85 but the 2 owners cars above probably use a tank of meth every 4-5 months so it's probably better bang for buck to go meth if you can't get e85.

I BELIEVE THAT 70BIRD HAS RUN THE SNOW SYSTEM ON HIS VEHICLE FOR MANY YEARS.
He can confirm that personally. Tom V.

Talked at length with a Top Fuel Driver/ Machinist yesterday. Had me thinking about 90% Methane as a BOOST idea.
Methane is fuel, and need oxidizer too so BOOST remains a function of air inhale. HOWEVER, Methane is SOOOOO load sensitive that, oops i gotta go. |

(methane is a gas like natural gas)

Yep we found the same thing. Haven't put a bore scope down a cylinder yet to see what it looks like but the turbo LS car got a bit "smokey" then cleared itself right up. We figured it was doing the same thing and giving the chamber a steam clean.

Most wouldn't understand that?
The "Nitro" (NO2) part of the combination is what makes the power. CH3NO2 Nick name is Nitro!

I have been using it for 10 years on my Pontiac. I think its cheap insurance when running pump gas. I also use it on my 351w, I have had that motor up to 20 psi. on pump fuel with iron heads.

I use it too, I didn't want the bulk and weight of an intercooler system. I convinced a few of my turbo combo mates to use it too-one BBC combo runs consistent 7.80's@176mph on street radials with the same engine build for over 7 years-right down to the rings and bearings! Here is a pic of it.

Okay then, guess I better get going on it. Thanks!

It has it's own air built in. Using it in the water injection, not sure how that would work. Injecting it straight is the way to go!

Good grief, i reread my posts and was not clear at all. Sorry. I meant Nitro-methane the whole time (BOOST section...) and then walked my thought into describing Methane. AHH, thanks for insisting on clarity.

We are installing a Pro Meth custom setup, with the Snow VC-50 progressive controller. This controller calculates the meth output using boost as the reference point. Plumbing the supercharger lid for 6 nozzles (3 per side) with hard line, so it will look like an NOS setup.
Initially, just going to use the Snow Boost Juice (49% meth, 51% H20) and trip it on/off with a boost switch set at ~8#. Will adjust that on the dyno to the best spot. |

Has anyone ever used meth with a Whipple charger or similar supercharger in lieu of an intercooler?,
