Does anyone have any pictures of how these attach? The one picture in the restoration guide/shop manuel shows a picture that isn't very helpful. My car didn't have these on when I purchased it and I would like to mount the bumper so I can line it up with the front sheet metal to make sure everything is good before I head to the paint booth.
Thanks

Are you talking about the two main brackets from the frame to the bumper?
Pretty straight forward provided you have the right brackets for your style bumper. chrome or endura?

These picts from the service manual have been posted a few times, but here they are if your still looking. The assembly manual show more detail with fasteners & washers, etc if you need those.

Do a search in this forum for pics. I don't see it it that diagram. It looks like a "j" . the flat part mounts against the front edge of main bumper bracket and th lower part nestles inside the bumper to support it when using bumper jack. It transfers the load to the frame horn.

Here's mine. Kind of an unnecessary part today from a functional standpoint seeing none of us would ever use the bumper jack. To be honest it kind of freaks me out just thinking about it....
![]() But, no doubt it was there for a reason. I think its shown in a assembly manual, I can add a photo of that too if we cannot find one easy.

I think I figured out the reason for those. Without them, the portion of the plastic grille adjacent to the hideaway door is totally unsupported and it's pretty fragile without it.

antique69lemans has it right, without that bracket your endura folds like tin can with the bumper jack. I learned that the hard way as a 19 year old punk with a flat front tire stranded on the side of the road back in the day. The bumper jack was the only option and I learned that day that a bumper jack is just for looks in the trunk! you can be sure when I got home and switched out the pretzel for another endura I had, those brackets were found in my piles and put back on. (I also started carrying around one of the cheapy floor jacks in the trunk for the next time)

Well, that does make more sense than my 'revelation'. But still, support in that area for the really flimsy inner grille is a bonus. I noticed just how fragile it is in that area and realized when I put it back in, that upright support backs the grille up very nicely and thought...'voila'.
