I’ve used Rock Auto for both my GTO and daily drivers. I’ve always been satisfied with their service and prices. I usually shop prices locally before I order from Rock Auto, and it’s always something I don’t need immediately . For me the lack of sales tax by ordering online ( which will be changing in the next year I believe) cancels out the shipping charge. I also don’t usually order anything that has a core charge.

The power of suggestion. I just went to RA and ordered brake parts for my daily truck and door handles for my TA.

I have to give Rock Auto credit where it is due. I think their on-line catalog is the very best in the parts business period. Much better than NAPA Pro-Link, Advanced parts, AutoZone and Oreily's. It's funny, when my NAPA store can't find a part in any of the three systems they have at their disposal, they often go to Rock Auto, get a part number and then try to cross it back to a NAPA number. I try to support my primary NAPA store because they take excellent care of me on a day to day basis and they will warranty everything they sell me no questions asked. That has value. But sometimes they just can's compete with Rock Auto, not even close. Good example are door parts. Window regulators and such. I replace dozens of them a year. The NAPA parts are 2, sometimes 3 times as expensive as the ACDelco Professional brand from Rock Auto. As far as service, Rock Auto has been very good on returns and getting the correct parts sent every time. One little gripe is on a large order, they often ship items separately. I have waited for entire orders to arrive with all the parts for up to 3 weeks . Most of my customers simply can't wait that long.

Been buying for years, had one flub.
Few years ago, I ordered all new hoses for my 84 F150 from RA, They came in, were the correct part and fit. Few months later, had a leak I couldn't find. Took it to a friend to look at. The bypass hose had a tiny split in it. My friend said it looked like an old part that had sat on the shelf for a long time.

Those valve covers are fine, the W72 used chrome valvecovers. Even if these don't have drippers, they're close. But I really want someone to use that oil filler cap as a baseball...

WS4 only denotes that it's a TransAm. W72 was the optional engine.

Like has already ben stated, their shipping charges are a little high typically. Especially when your order is shipping from multiple locations. I believe they only give you a 30 day window for returns. Unlike others here, I have received an incorrect part. They took the part back less initial shipping charges because the RockAuto website showed it "was" the correct part. Got the correct part for my brothers Audi at Worldpac.

As I'm in Australia (where we have next to no Pontiac parts available locally) I buy a tonne of parts through Rock Auto. Mostly I source suspension/steering/suspension/hardware types of parts from Rock Auto, with resto parts (interior/body/etc) from OPGI.
I've never had a problem, always found them to be well-priced and fast to ship. |

Their website is intuitive, their pricing is competitive and I've bought many parts for the Tempest. For my Tundra, there's an online store for Toyota factory parts. For everything that truck has done for me, I just can't bring myself to start throwing in aftermarket parts. Even with 200,000 miles on it.
As already mentioned, I found myself surfing Amazon for parts and have gotten a few items from them. They were cheaper and I received the part the next day., even when ordering after 5pm. What can I say? My loyalty is in my pocketbook. |

No Rock Auto for me. I'll only buy from O'Reilly.
The outfit that delivers parts to Christiana Auto Parts here in Bear owns Rock Auto. They're no selling parts I've never heard of. Acts like they're telling us you buy what we want you to have. The owner of the store hates them, but they have the whole area from Baltimore up into NY tied up. No one can buy from any other warehouse as they've bought them. They even own Pep Boys now.

Ordered a lot of parts off them for my sons project car and saved a fair amount of money. All the parts were correct, but we had the luxury to wait a few days for parts as the car won’t be in use for another year.

Never had a problem with Rock Auto, for as many parts they offer I think they are great. I have a '85 D50 Dodge 4wd pick-up that is in good shape that I,ve been buying parts from RA for years that some day I'll start working on. Amazing the inventory they have. Just got a discount code from they today 5% off. Top post in members helping members for years have been posting the latest discount anyone can use. Ask if you need to know where to apply to your order.

I would like to think most hobbyist can wait a day or two for their parts, so online isn't too bad. I have a buddy who will order online from AZ or Advance (not sure which) then go pick it up at the local store within a couple of hours. To me that is pretty good service.

MA, I agree with you on the chrome. Some cars its fine. But your TA will look much better without. The only chrome I have on mine is the valve covers but they are supposed to be that way. I see the po also painted the inner fenders gloss, guess to give the chrome some more bling.
