I've been searching the net for a decent low budget street/strip project candidate. There are LOTS of ridiculously high prices on 2nd gen Birds & most any '72 & older A-body.
My theory is that lots of those guys don't really wanna sell, but figure that if somebody has plenty of money & is dumb enuff to pay their high price, they'll sell and buy something better than they have now. Then there's another group that starts off with a real high price, so that some dummy can talk 'em down a lot, making the buyer think they are then getting a good deal. Then a lot of the cars belong to dealers or are being sold thru brokers. They're just like most all the other used car dealers, trying to make all the profit they can off each car. They start off high, knowing that most everybody expects it to be the "asking" price, not the "selling" price. It's almost humorous nowadays to see an ad for a new pickup. It's not uncommon at all to see a price that is advertised as being $10,000 or more off MSRP. But, the MSRP may be $50k-$60k or more. So, the buyer will still have to pay $40-$50k or more for the truck. Basically, MSRP means absolutely nothing. It's just a number used to make a guy think he's getting a good deal. It's what I call an "advertising gimmick". |

Saw it last Friday or the Friday before at the St. Francis, MN weekly car show. Probably see it this weekend at the state fairgrounds. He'll have fun parking it if he does go, because he was fighting the non-power steering leaving the city show.

You think?
Didn't see it today at the Street Machine Summer Nationals. Lots of other cool cars though.

Isn’t that a little harsh? It’s still someone’s car. It’s not finished and maybe not your cup of tea, it’s not mine either, but there was quite a bit of time and money put into it.
