A rev limiter, set on 5500, saved my 455's, many times.

The little end of the rod is to small he said he did not want to enlarge it to fit the pin. I got a good buy and some forged H beams so I went in that direction. Should work out all right

to me its sounds like the inside of the piston where the small end of the rod goes in is too narrow for a factory cast rod,exactly what happened to me.Tom

WOW ! I suppose that's the 1st time I ever read of a shop that wouldn't hone a pin hole, to better fit a pin.

Surely they didn't think .001 would reduce the rod strength enuff to cause a failure.

Have to wonder how many Pontiac engines these guys have built.

Common deal with Racetec. Have to be sure to let them know if you're using a factory rod and give them the width and height of the balance pad if the rod has one.

Same issue you'd have using a cast rod with an SD455 style piston. Narrow the rod end and the problem is solved.
