Default '67 block in '72 lemans?

As the title suggests, if I were to put a '67-'69 block in my '72 lemans, other than buying those engine mount adapters, does anybody know what else might need to be done to make it all work? Will my a/c system and heads from '72 mount up ok? Can I use the later timing cover with an 11 bolt water pump? Can I use the later valley pan?

I figure nothing should be different except for the motor mounts, and since I'd be starting with a bare block, all my post-'70 components should bolt right up and be fine, right?

I ask because my 400 block had some pretty severe cracks, so now I need a new block and I've found a couple from '67-'68, not any from 70-'74 for some reason. Avoiding the later build 557 blocks due to performance goals with my build.

You will be 100% fine once you get around the issue of the block not having 5 motor mount holes per side .

I don’t think it’s a problem as long as you’re not putting that ‘67 block in a 2’nd gen f body.

Yeah, not going into a F-body, just an A-body. I thought I'd be fine other than having to use those adapter brackets for the mounts, but I just wanted to make sure everything would all bolt up. I don't mind having to use those mount adapter plates as long as they hold up to torque.

All you will need is the two bolt 67 style motor mounts for your block and it will work. 64 to 72 frame mounts are the same unless its a 455 car. So you dont need the adapters. They are only for putting a early motor in an f- body car which has 3 bolt engine mounts.

Nice, I love Pontiac's interchangeability. Now I know any block from 67 to 78 will work, although I'm still going to avoid the 557 blocks to be safe.
