72 Lemans 4 speed shifter location
My 72 is currently going to be getting some floor work done etc. It’s currently an auto car - and am looking to convert it over to an m22 or super t10. Does anyone have measurements on what needs to be cut etc?
Thanks

The shifter porch will only really fit well in one location on the floor pan. With the carpet and everything out, just move the porch around until it fits right. That is where the floor pan will need to be cut.

Plus the clearance for the hole you need to cut is going to end up "inboard" of the actual footprint of the porch rolled lower edge so you do have a bit of forgiveness going on in case you get a little crazy with the tin snips!
Put some waterproof caulking around the porch edge (all the way around) before you tight down the screws. That's the way GM did it. And don't over-tighten the screws; just flush and sung is fine. Carpet covers all of this up anyway.

I'm converting my 72 lemans wagon to a 4 speed, and I want to put a console in it. Could anybody help out with some pictures or insight with how the console brackets are placed on the trans tunnel and how they were attached?

The brackets are spot welded to the floor. I’m sure someone here can give you some measurements. If not, just place your console to where the shifter will operate without hitting the bezel for the console. Mark the mounting locations and spot weld your brackets in.

Here are a couple pics from my '68 Lemans, 3-speed Dearborn trans, but should still be the same?
One photo is of the front bracket for the console, but assume it will be different for other years. |

My 70 GTO front bracket looks the same.
