Yeah, he was one of my favorites, back when Country Music, was still country.
Listened to him & all the other country greats of that era, on 8-track tapes, while cruisin around in Musclecars. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8-trac...pularity%20for Last edited by ponyakr; 12-12-2020 at 10:12 PM. |

Same here regarding 8 tracks. My parents had a 69 Impala with an 8 track under the driver's seat. Charley was a frequent visitor under that seat. I just read that he has been married to the same lady since 1956. Being in the entertainment business, that says a lot about the man. |

If I remember correctly he would appear from time to time on Hee Haw. What a great voice; loved his songs.

Condolences to Charlie's family, friends and fans! He was one of my favorite country singers.
I was on a country music cruise several years ago. Charlie was one of the entertainers aboard. Very approachable and down to earth person, even ate breakfast with several others including his wife one morning. 2020 has been hard for country music fans. We lost several greats including Charlie Daniels, Merle Haggard, Kenny Rogers, Hal Ketchum, Billy Joe Shaver, Jerry Jeff Walker and Mel Tillis.
