Crower Rockers... WTF???
So I'm looking for a set of 1.65 rockers for my next build and thought I would go with Crowers since I bought a set of 1.5's for a build a few years ago & liked them.
Apparently, the guy that sets the prices for Crower started using meth since I bought my last set for $365. Am I the only one that thinks that $665.99 for a set of rockers is insane? I get that costs go up, but nearly a 100% increase? <biden>Come on man!</biden> In other news.... A buddy told me that Scorpion rockers are made locally so I stopped by, and I have to say, the staff there are super friendly, gave me a plant tour, & a smoking deal on a set of rockers! Looks like I'll be supporting local, made in the USA, from here on out.

Has it been a while since you bought a set? Because the last set I bought were $600 and that was quite a while ago. As far as I can remember they've always been around $600 for the BBC, Pontiac etc....
The only time I spent as little as $400 on a set was for a SBC about 5 years ago. That's just how it is if you want good parts in your engine. If you want cheaper, go with a set of Harland Sharps. They are the only inexpensive set of aluminum rockers I'd recommend. |

Now that you mention it.... it has been a while. At least 5 or 6.
I think I've finally reached the age where "a few years ago" could be 3 years or 15. LOL

Unfortunately raising prices is the new normal in this industry. Scorpion makes a nice rocker if you get a set the rocker bodies don't crack on and the roller tips doesn't spin .003 out of round.... They do come with a life time warranty.

Bought my 1.5 Crower stainless rocker arms for $478.90 about six years ago. I shopped around on the ‘net for the best deal.

I went with a set of Comp Cam Ultra Gold 1.5's. Very nice looking rocker especially compared to a set of older Crane Energizer 's I have.

Bought my 1.65 Crowers from Summit in January of 2013 for $489.95 USD.
Shipping to Canada was $95 USD...that sucked. I'll bet 20% of my restoration costs are shipping

Just think how much they might be in 4 years??? I met a factory Rep for Harland Sharp 3-4 years ago at a NHRA divisional race. I might be able to find that business card, if you like, to contact them???

If these prices shock you - be glad your aren't buying for a Buick....H-S are $1100 a set. Being a Buick enthusiast (as well as a Pontiac one) has given me perspective on how bad pricing can get.

I have had very good luck with HS, even with 700 lb open pressures at 6700 rpm on my race car.

"Apparently, the guy that sets the prices for Crower started using meth since I bought my last set for $365."
He was probably already smoking Meth.....the Meth prices have just went up some the "pandemic" started!....LOL Seriously, if you are looking at stainless steel full rollers the Crowers are the rockers to get. For aluminum the only ones I haven't had issues with are Harland Sharp and Crane Gold Race. ALL of the others we've tried here or been associated with have had issues.......FWIW......
