Jonny, I don't go to National shows. And seeing my 66 GTO is "modified", I'd probably just piss em off. LOL Some have to have trophies and throw a hissy fit if they don't get one. That's not me..... I don't collect "dust catchers", and I don't need to prove anything to anyone with my GTO.
BTW, my 79 Formula with a 4bbl 301 and automatic trans did have cruise control that I ordered. Cost me 103.00. And I still have the window sticker. A factory new $7,985.55 car I got for $6500 seeing I delivered to the dealer. Options were only 1,526.10 as I didn't go whole hog for the fancy stuff.... except I had to have WS6 package. limited slip rear, Deluxe Hobnail upholstery. And the Spare Tire, Stowaway for only $.10. LOL

2 barrel GTO?
Speaking of odd GTOs, In this thread today https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...d.php?t=849144 there is a GTO on eBay that 1969 Ram Air suggests is a 2 barrel GTO and that he had one.
Did the factory do that? I had never heard of a 2 barrel GTO. I guess you learn something every day. |

I think the best evidence that it wasn't available or allowed from the factory with a 4-speed is that there are no engineering drawings or GM parts relating to killing the cruise vacuum diaphragm with a clutch pedal switch like the brake pedal switch has. Otherwise you'd rail the engine if you put the clutch in and that would be a big no-no from an engineering standpoint.

1976 I believe is when it became available, if not 1977. I had a '77 that had it, but never PHS'd it to determine if it was factory though. 1975 and earlier literature all says "no" for cruise on F-bodies but 1976 no longer had that note.

It started life as an AT on the column, 2bbl 400, and notchback front bench seat. It is now set up as an HO.

Yup it's available for 1976; RPO: K30 MSRP: $87.30 notes: an 8 cylinder engine (L30 or L78) and Turbo Hydra-Matic Transmission (M38) MUST BE ORDERED

A couple oddities for early 70's Firebirds:
CONSOLES: There were two console options. Front Console. Back Console. It would have been possible to have a Firebird with a back console only (Weird). WINDOW TRIM There were two window trim options. Drip Molding. Window Sill and Hood Edge. It would have been possible to have hood and sill molding and no drip molding (Weird). There is a Lucerne TA with a green interior. I saw pics. Experts?

There is also at least one White 70 TA with Green Deluxe Interior.
Never heard/saw anything about a Lucerne Blue TA with Green Interior. That would be equally high on the "wtf - meter" |

That reminded me of something I've mentioned to my wife when we are browsing houses online. Some of the interior shots have me thinking that the owner HAS to be color blind.

My story may not be as interesting as the shaker hood on the SD Formula, but I ordered my T/A new and the first thing I said to the salesman was I wanted the blue color, by far my favorite color. Then I added the tan interior and gold bird and wheels to compliment the blue.
40 years later I still have people tell me the blue color is not original because it wasn't offered from the factory. Some people don't believe me until I show them the window sticker and PHS docs. One guy said "I've never seen one so it can't be true... " Well.. if you say so.... Also, some believe the gold bird isn't original because they only put them on black SE cars...... I'm not an expert on anything but I know what I ordered.

What color blue that? I’ve never seen it with a gold bird before either. Looks good.

Thank you. Vibrant blue is the color. I didn't like the blue bird that was suggested for the blue color, so I chose the gold bird. I wanted the bird to stand out, not blend in with the blue. Many people tell me they haven't seen this color combo before. I've only seen a few myself online. It's nice having something different than everyone else.

That entire color combination really "works" together and looks nice. Surprised the factory didn't make that a more available combination. Really pops.
