I was thinking something similar when I looked at that. That hurts my worn out rotator cuffs and my tendonitis elbow just to look at it!

This crashed LeMans is a ‘67, isn’t it? If so, that energy absorbing column didn’t do much.
I know what you mean about the ‘66 column, though. My son has stitches on his chest from the wheel that look like he got implants or something. |

Looks like the steering wheel was pulled up to get the driver out. I had to do it many times when I worked with the fire department.

Howdy old friends. I do miss coming here after selling my Pontiac. Yes, this happened locally to me on Long Island, NY. We had our first nice days so the toys came out. Unfortunately, what we usually see in spring are a lot of motorcycle accidents. This one look really bad. I'm super glad to hear that the driver walked away! I'm sure you have all seen that famous crash test of a 1959 vs 2009 Chevy. Size does not always matter!

Appears the mini van pulled out in front of him. According his fiends post on Facebook, GTO and Lemans, Tempest Group post.
Car might be for sale if someone were to be interested as per facebook post.

Just sickening to look at...
Back around 71-72?, my older brother fell asleep one night after a double shift from USS mill. Hit a guard rail on I65 in 67 FB. Steering wheel was a horse shoe. His head nearly went through the windshield. Woke up in and out of conscious. Everything pitch dark. Heard voices saying he was dead. Passed out again. Woke up 2-3 days later. Turned out blood had dried his eye lids closed. Had cracked forehead 5-6" long. Lucky only severely bruised ribs and not impaled. Doc said don't know how he survived... BTY, still have pic of car. If I can just figure how to send via phone...

Looks like the shifter is in the "His" position in low gear, think he was in it pretty hard and the van pulled out in front of him?

Don't let the "mini" part in minivan fool you. If that's a Honda it probably weighed in between 4000 and 4500 pounds.

No link, but here is the Guys post, on Facebook.
Robert Mennella Yesterday at 8:45 AM · Thank you for all the get well wishes and prayers from everyone. Very appreciated. I was driving south on Yaphank Ave when the minivan decided to try and make a left turn from the side street. Didn’t even look in my direction and when he pulled out I T boned him. Luckily I was able to walk away with only a broken nose and sternum and some cuts and bruises. Not sure what im going to do with the car but if anyone is interested in the car for their resto let me know. Everything in it is brand new. Every wire and bolt. Thank you and everyone stay safe.

True. But the shifter wasn't that lucky, it's still LeMans.

That must have been before GM put dimples in the hood sub-frame to keep the hood from hitting and/or going through the windshield. Glad to see those involved weren't seriously hurt. Have any of you seen this GTO Judge wreck in St.Paul back in 2009? Apparently the driver survived.
