Default Another Iconic Drummer has left us.

Ron Bushy , the drummer for Iron Butterfly has passed away peacefully at home at the age of 79 .
Probably their most popular song was ,,In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida ,,released in 1968. I never heard positive proof ,, but I heard years ago that the actual name of the song was supposed to be, "In the Garden of Eden " .
RIP Mr Bushy ..

RIP Ron Bushy.

I always loved the version of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida that featured his drum solo in the middle. I believe that version was around 17 minutes long!

God Bless
Bill

I would have never picked up a drumstick if I had not heard this when I was 10 years old

Iron Butterfly has some groovy tunes (Metamorphosis being one of my preferred long play records) and Bass players know the drummer and Bass need be coordinated for best results. Iron Butterfly had that.

Geez, 2021 has been a tough year for drummers, there is like 2 notable 60s drummers left.

Sad news. When I was learning to play the drums, I listened to every drummer I could, including Mr Bushy. Not many of my drumming heroes left. Thank you Mr. Bushy for sharing your talent with us. RIP.

RIP Ron Bushy. You did good and helped make the band great. I remember the "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" LP coming out in 1968, and still have the original to this day. Yeah I played the hell out of it, but it's still in great condition. My thanks to you and the band for a great song.

Yes, "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" was supposed to be "In the Garden of Eden"... but the lead singer, Doug Ingle who also wrote the song, was so juiced up from earlier that he couldn't pronounce In the Garden of Eden. The song was left that way and became a hit. Ingle left the band in the early 70s.

Original band member guitarist Erik Braunn died July 25th 2003 of cardiac arrest.
