Royal Bobcat GTO? Hmmmmm
Saw this near me the other day. I thought the only way to know if a car had a Bobcat treatment was with a receipt of the work done by the dealer?
https://www.classiccarsofsarasota.co...yal-bobcat-gto If anyone wants me to look at it closer I can. I pass the building 2X a day. |

1st Observations. Nice restoration but far from correct. Wrong pedals, valve covers, rear end, sway bar, exhaust. |

states on the window sticker that it was sold by Sturgell Motors in Lexington Ky, so highly unlikely a Bobcat.
Heck, I guess I'll buy some Royal emblems and call mine a Bobcat, at least my 66 was sold through Royal

Needs documentation to prove it otherwise knock the price down. Nothing in the description nails it down to having any of the Bobcat packages that were available. Original owner probably joined the club and got the decals.
I understand originality, but restoring it with a single reservoir master cylinder? Someone adapted the throttle linkage to a cable and the dash woodgrain is gone, all this for above concours value. If I was going to clone a Bobcat, I would at least have the Ram Air pan on it. |

And T/A splitters and air conditioning core support. I wonder why so many pieces that normally stay with a car are gone?

And the painted fender bolts since they couldn't be bothered to remove the fenders before paint.
And the parts store alternator with 10SI front housing and DN rear. And the aftermarket voltage regulator. And the Olds "12-bolt" And the boxed lower rear control arms with anti-sway bar And the '67 RA/HO manifolds And the 2-1/2" mandrel-bent exhaust with X-pipe And the '67-up valve covers And they didn't even know what the lower spring retainer plates were for-- they mounted them on the bottom of the spring pads where they do nothing useful. Now that’s funny! But he’s pointing to the sticker, doesn’t that make it OK?

As far as I know there was no X crossover in the 65 exhaust system. Or was there?
I don't believe for one second it's what he says it is. I smell fraud.

Sounds like they bought this car from horsepower Warehouse. I watched their video on this car last week. I think they have to make their money on it. Not sure if it’s a legit Bobcat but I think horsepower warehouse is mainly corvettes, so they may not have the Pontiac knowledge. |

And FYI, this is probably a consigned car to the store and they get the info from the seller.

NOTHING WRONG WITH BUILDING A CAR THE WAY THAT YOU WANT IT.
Especially if you are keeping the car for your own families' enjoyment. That being said, Keith, I got a couple of NOS Royal stickers on the fenders and a Friend who owns a 65 Royal Car. Can I claim my car as a Royal 64 GTO convertible????? JK Tom V.

Tom V...I agree, there's nothing wrong with building a car the way YOU want it...but when you try to sell it as "what it's NOT"... THAT'S a problem.

My 66 was sold new here in the Southeast in mid June 1966. The original owner ordered it to race. It was taken to Boomershine Pontiac at the end of July 1966. They installed the Royal Bobcat package on the car. Boomershine ordered the package. Even though the car was not purchased through Royal some dealers did install the packages since the kits could be mail ordered. The invoice for the work stated "No Warranty on Parts or Labor"
This car the OP posted has very few original pieces left.
