This morning while looking at the news feed on my computer. One of the headline stories was about an upcomming auction and the expected price for a "Rare Mustang". What was in the picture with the headline, a 56 Chevy!

Not surprised.

The "articles" I see will reference a certain celebrity and have a picture of someone different (??) or - better yet - It will be an article about a certain photo and never attach the photo.

I don't usually look at the "clickbait" lists but fell into a trap the other day on a "worst musclecar" list.

It included such notable "musclecars" as the Ford LTD and Thunderbird, and would reference the '74 GTO while showing a picture of a '66 Lemans.

I think perhaps it was written overseas.

Yes, they don't seem to be written by car people. Alot of times it isn't even the right model. Even some of the automotive news sites are ridiculously wrong. I don't know who rights some of these articles, but they obviously never did their research.

I'm boggled by so many of these "clickbait" links pretending to be news or reviews, yet appear to be nothing more than a lure.

Help me understand the motive. Do people actually make enough money off this stuff to justify writing it?

For example, if a few thousand click on "10 Ugliest Muscle Cars" or something similar, how much is the "author" making?

Click bait usually shows an enticing picture, but that picture will not be in the article. ( See what Wayne Gretzky looks like today. Not one pic of Wayne. )/. Spent a lot of time doing click bait twice, Never again.

Must be the same ones that did a car calendar for 2021 and put a red 1966 GTO convertible on the cover, and inside said it was a 1967 GTO.
