Hey guys, new member here. I don't have a GTO, but i'm a huge fan and i'm hoping to pick up an 05/06 GTO this fall since I need a new DD after I totaled my 2013 WRX which I tastefully modded since I wanted it to be a quick and fun DD, that was capable of fun in the winter and all other seasons since it's AWD. I was able to get it to 308/339 AWHP, which was good for me for a DD. Then in June of 2020 I totaled it in a freak rainstorm

Anyways, i'm a Mustang guy. My first car was a 99 GT that I started with bolt-ons, then added a Vortech S-Trim, finally went all out and ported the heads, fully built SB, Garrett 67mm turbo-part of a PTK turbo kit, TKO-600, and I did a swap with a local guy for his 03' Cobra IRS for my 8.8 rear end. Fully built return-style fuel system and many other mods that are too long to list. The car made 670 rwhp on E85. I also had a 2012 5.0 Mustang which I sold for way more than I should have gotten for it, but it was at the end of 2020 and used cars were worth a pretty penny and still are now. About a year ago I bought a Fox Body, an 86 GT that was in much better condition than I thought it would be. I plan on pulling the SB and putting a 331 or 347 stroker this spring/summer along with pulling out the tired T5 and adding an Astro T5 or going up to PA and having Hanlon upgrade my current T5 with the usual upgraded syncros, helical cut gears, carbon fiber sliders, and whatever else they do to upgrade it.


My WRX was completely covered and had a $5,000 rider policy. To my surprise, the insurance company paid me out $18,6xx + $5,000. So i'm looking to buy an 05/06 GTO as my new DD. I love their interiors and the IRS makes them ride so smooth. I'm going to of course mod it. That's not set in stone, but I want a newer V8 powered RWD, stick car. I still want to get another 2011-2014 WRX, but Subarus and especially WRX/STis hold their value extremely well.


I recently inherited a TON of 1:18 scale diecast cars and most of them are GTOs and a lot of them are "Arnie the Farmer Beswick" cars. I think I have most of them and I also have a bunch of memorabilia like a Pontiac Service Neon clock with the Indian head logo, vintage Pontiac calendar from 1950 with a big Indian head made from some type of foil, GTO clocks, etc. I also have 2 authentic vintage MPC 1966 GTO slot cars, tons of 1:24 scale GTOs hand made, I have so much GTO stuff, a lot of it models, and a lot of memorabilia. My Dad owned 6-7 GTOs over the course of his life. All of them being 64-67s. He had about three 64s he told me about, two or three 66s, which were his favorite model year GTO, and a 67 for a short while. He also owned three 70 Chevelles, an Olds, a 67 Impala, and a couple Novas I know about. He was a GM guy until 1986 when he bought his first Ford, which was a Mustang GT, and we bonded over the car, modding it together while I was growing up. At one point we had about 8 cars in our garage and driveway. He had his 64 GTO until about 20 years ago when he sold it. I have a picture of it.

Anyways, sorry for the long post. I just wanted to introduce myself, and this was really the only way I knew how. I'm just looking for some advice on the items I do have when the time comes.

Welcome to the forums Ray. I see no location posted so I'm going to ask. Do you live up around Rising Sun, or Hatfield?
Reason being, I see Arnie's "Mystery Tornado" in the pictures you have posted. I saw Arnie up in Hatfield back at the last
PY show and talked with him for a long time. I'm thinking you might have been there at that show too.

I'm from MD actually, been here my whole life, except 4 1/2 years in Columbus, OH when I went to OSU for college.

I can't say that I was there, maybe when I was a child and I don't remember. My Dad used to hit all the GTO events when he was younger and back in the day i'm sure he went to all the events in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.


I must have 8 or more of the Mystery Tornado 1:24 scale plastic models my Dad made. He was no amateur either at making models, They are prime examples of what a professional model should look like. Immaculate detail and as time went on, he made over 200+ 1:24 scale plastic models. He made all kinds of cars, GMs, Fords, Mopars, and others. I've sold many of the best ones off, but still have a bunch. I recently put a Ramchargers Dodge 330 that looked like a Franklin/Danbury Mint model in plastic form. I placed it on eBay just throwing out a random high price of $80.00 and within maybe 30-40 hours, it sold . The buyer didn't even make me an offer, just bought it for my full asking price.

I still have a ton of 1:18 scale diecast GTOs. My favorite GTOs 1:18 scale models I have that I keep in display cases, are my rare 1966 Nightwatch Blue GTO made by Acme using Guycast tooling. It's one of 200 made. I have an Acme 1966 Royal Bobcat GTO (I actually have two of them), above that car is the 1964 Mystery Tornado GTO (also have 2 of them), above that I have an Acme 1966 GTO in Turquoise that is one of 402, and above that I have a hand made 1:24 scale plastic 1964 GTO that was painted to look like it was Nocturne Blue just like my Dad's 64 GTO.. The model is extremely detailed and very well done..

I also have the Beswick Tameless Tiger, Highway 61 1966 Beswick Drag Car, SC Collectibles 1964 GTO drag car, Lane Motor-State 1966 GTO Holiday edition, Beswick 68 "Bossman" GTO, two 1963 Acme Pontiac Tempests w/ the 421 SD (one is the blackout version which is 1 or 96) and many many more without making this a college term paper in length.

I'm here to soak up as much GTO knowledge I can. I don't want to say i'm an expert, but I know pretty much everything about 85-93, 94-98, 99-04, 05-09, 10-14, and 15+ S550 Mustangs. So i'm here to learn as much as I can about everything GTO.
