Good info on four Banshee models here. Including the 88 model with the 4.0.

I Found this on my computer:

http://www.tinindian.com/home.html

This website is dedicated to preserving the history of the most successful Pontiac dealer in drag racing. Knafel Pontiac sponsored more cars and won more races and championships than any other Pontiac dealer in the country. Beginning in 1959 and continuing through 1971 Knafel Pontiac and its predecessor Bill Knafel's Anderson Pontiac sponsored over 40 Pontiacs that won hundreds if not thousands of races including numerous regional and national championships. Many of their cars were also national record holders. Within the pages of this site you will learn about the cars, the drivers, the races, and the people behind the scenes. There are many stories to be told and more information to discover. Such success required a dedicated owner, talented drivers, experienced support personnel, top notch equipment, outstanding cars, and factory support. In the following pages our mission is to present the story as accurately as possible. The website will constantly evolve as more information becomes available.

This is a picture of the dealership that was probably taken sometime in 1968. The building sits on the corner at South Main St in Akron, OH. The building still stands today although it has been substantially changed. The front of the building has been torn down due to a fire. The parking lot remains the same and the two large poles that supported the Knafel sign now support a new sign for the present business. The building can be seen from Interstate 76 which passes right over South Main St.

Knafel Pontiac Circa 1968
The idea of this website is to present as much information and pictures as possible concerning Knafel Pontiac and the "Tin Indian" race team. Any information that is available about the cars, the events, and the people involved will be included. We are looking for information from as many sources as possible. If you own one of the cars (even a regular Pontiac sold by the dealership), know something about one of the cars, were employed by the dealership, raced against one of the Knafel cars, knew someone involved with the dealership, please contact us, and share your stories and pictures. In short, we want to tell the story as accurately as possible and we need your help. You can send an email to [email protected], or you can call 978-973-2148. We appreciate your support.

No posts by me lately, it's more of a winter thing.
After all, it is still car show season here in Michigan.

So here is a few pics from the Clawson, MI "Down on Main Street" Car Show held on August 13 and hosted by the City of Clawson and the USMA Car Club. They go BIG - over 400 cars lined the street for a Half of a Mile and a Truckload of Trophies.
I took the Bandit and scored a 5 Footer, you have to take it apart to get it in the car. Not complaining about that!
Pic #1 - All of the Trophies
Pic #2 - My Bandit
Pic #3 - My Car Buddy's '96 Camaro I helped him build. Won a 3 Footer.
Pic #4 - Another Car Friend in his '66 Stang - first Trophy in his newly acquired car he has ever won, a 4 footer. Let's just say he was geeked and probably slept with it that night.

More Car Show Pics.

This one was held yesterday Aug 28.
Another really big Car Show held by the USMA Car Club, this one at the K of C Hall in Clawson, MI.
As I said in the previous post, they go BIG - over 400 Trophies on hand in this show were awarded. Where else would you see this?
40 CLASSES, 40 BEST, 80 OUTSTANDING, 40 CLASS WINNERS, 100 SPECIALTY CORRAL AWARDS, 25 BEST ENGINE, 15 BEST PAINT, 10 BEST INTERIOR
I took the Bandit and scored a 5 Foot "Attention to Detail", a "Best Engine", and a "Outstanding Vehicle, 1977 - 1979".
It took a hour to disassemble and pack the car with the trophies, display board/stand, chair, and supplies to get home. Smiling all they way during the drive home.
Pic #1 - My Bandit sporting the new Antenna, Hat, CB Radio, and the SoundBox Pro/I-Pod playing Buford T Justice Sound Bytes from the Smokey and The Bandit Movie . Always gathers a crowd, laughs, and stories.
Pic #2 - A truly stellar GTO. Engine and Paint were awesome.
Pic #3 - A 1972 T/A with a 455 HO.
Pic #4 - The Trophies I won, gotta find a place somewhere in my garage for them.

Congradulations on the awards you won, your Pontiac deserves every one of them.

Notice: 1959 389 Valve Stem Vent Diagram, #10 that Pontiac used a vent at what looks like the Intake valve? Anyone that has one of these in the past, can you explain why? Did they vent the Exhaust valve as well?
