So my original wiper motor appears to work, runs anyway, at both speeds (on the bench). Haven't tested the pump but I don't see anything broken.
It would require quite a bit of time disassembling, cleaning, re-greasing, repainting. What is the status of the new/rebuilt replacements? Crap? When I look at this crusty old one my first inclination is to take it apart and spend some time in the bead blaster ... but I got a feeling it would never be the same if it ever saw glass beads. Anyone rebuilt theirs?

I don't think motors go bad nearly as often as pumps. I'd be inclined to clean it up and reuse it. I cleaned mine with a wire brush - first on the bench, then by hand. It took some time, but I wanted to be careful not to mess anything up.
The trick is getting it to look right. I think replacement motors come in all black. I believe they're supposed to be natural aluminum on top and the motor cover is cad plated. I ended up painting mine with some Eastwood paint that emulates the effect.

Alright then, you've shamed me into it, I'll give it a try. I can mix up a new batch of Zinc solution and probably replate the necessary pieces.
Jeez, the restoration looks outstanding, that couldn't have been cheap.
