What is not correct on Post #39 Kenth?
You mentioned the Jets and I have posted the jet info again right from the build sheets: (MM. Jets: 299 cc, 60 degree, 7008660 "B" ) I read the 7008660 as being a #60 main jet with a 60 degree entrance angle. Tom V. What other info on Post #39 are you saying is incorrect? Bart removed the info on the original post #39 and replaced the info which I sent him later. Did you look at Post #39 again or assume that it was the old info? Tom V.

SAME CARB CALIBRATION (PER ROCHESTER PRODUCTS) and tag number for both engines 389 and 421 in 1966. This is the center carb. There is no unique 421 carb vs 389 carb for the center location with that number.
Good question though. Tom V.

Why was the post #41 different than post #39, when using the same carb#?

Looks like carb in #41 posting is 7026075, not 7026074.

The confusion is, Kenth, I was checking the info on post #39 each time and finding it all correct. each time. And you and John Wallace kept referring to 7026074 carb.
Post number #41 has one error I believe, the carb number should be 7026075 It has the 322cc 60 degree 7008662 "C" jets. So you kept steering me down the wrong path. Nothing wrong with 074s info in post #39 Post number #41 has the correct info for 7026075 and I will ask Bart to just change the model number from 7026074 to 7026075 One simple change. I agree with you Kenth. Wallace just confused things. Bart, I will sent you a PM on this. Tom V.

Very Nice to see that we have a Tri-Power Sticky in the Tri-Power Forum now.
Thanks Stuart and Bart. I am going to try to fill in the 1965 Carb Info here for the 389 engines and the 421 engines. The 389 engine carb part numbers are: Front Carb (389 engine with Automatic Trans) 7024178 (POST # 33) Front Carb (389 engine with Manual Trans) 7025178 (POST # 52 Rear Carb (389 engine with Automatic Trans) 7024179 (Post # 34) Rear Carb (389 engine with Manual Trans) 7025179 POST # 43 The Center Carbs are: (389 engine with Automatic Trans) 7025173 (389 engine with Automatic Trans) 7025177 (389 engine with Manual Trans) 7025175 This is the only center carb offered for the 389 engine with Manual Trans in 1965 So we have SEVEN 1965 carb listings for the 389 engine. In order to save on typing and possibly making mistakes on the same carb I will list the correct post number with the given carb information Example 7024178 posted previously is discussed in post # XXX Time to do some searching of previously posted info. Tom V.

Thanks for posting, I see that it lists the carb tag part numbers.
Rochester Products Engineering was kind enough to send me the actual build sheets for the different carb numbers you show in your book. So that just confirms that the info I have pretty much matches what they supplied to the parts organizations. Thanks again. I now have one issue based on your post, the pages are so big that it is impossible to post the info in the format I was using prior to your post. Maybe one of the Mods (Stuart or Bart can resize your post to get the sizing back where it was earlier today. I will send a PM to Stuart asking for help on this issue. Tom V.

Thank you Tom V for your postings in this topic!
I would like to add the applications on 1965 389 A/T center carbs: (389 engine with Automatic Trans) 7025173, used on B-body cars. (389 engine with Automatic Trans) 7025177, used on GTO´s. Only differences are the Pump Shaft and Lever Assembly, #7017442 on 173 and #7015108 on 177 and the Vacuum Switch, #7028797 on 173 and #7029693 on 177. |
