US Wheel 66-88501 - 17 x 8 front & rear, 4.5" backspace. Pirelli P7 245/50-17 tires. Fronts just barely rub the rear of the inner fenders at full lock. Front & rear both have ScareBird disc conversions so that may affect the track width a bit. Rear is stock height, front has about a coil & a half cut out.
Hubcaps are '71 Ventura. |

Untitled by Steve Blacksmith, on FlickrUS Mags Rambler. 18"x8" front with 255/45, and 18"x9.5" rear with 295/40. Clears everything with stock suspension. Clears 2012 Z51 brakes after grinding off the logo from the front calipers.

Man, that pic makes me regret that I got rid of my Admiralty Blue '74. Nice.

I've owned it for 32 years. In all that time, it was basically stock. It's time to turn up the fun dial a bit My 9 year old son helped me with the brakes, and claimed the car is his now, which makes me happy

66 Catalina with American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels.
Front of the car has 17x8 with 4” backspacing Rear of car has 17x8 with 5” backspacing Tires are 235/55-17’s all the way around. I would have ran a 255/55 in the rear but they didn’t have that tire size in stock. I’d also like to go with a wider tire in the rear but I’d need custom backspacing on the wheels to accommodate the width and I didn’t want to spend that kind of money right now. |

I don't typically like 17" aftermarket, modern wheels on these cars but that just flat out works on that car vertigo!

They're actually 18", but I think with the right tire profile/aspect ratio they work pretty well.

No rubbing issues up front?

Nope...no rubbing. Handles nice with the coilovers, tubular A arms and quick ratio steering box. Not too harsh either.
Still have the original 14" Rally IIs...not sure what to do with them, except keep them with all the other stock components removed for an eventual sale. You can't live forever. I think the car looks better after the restification with the bigger meat...but I'm sure others would disagree.

Had a new set of shoes built for my '69 Firebird. The Torq Thrust customs were great, but after close to 10 years with them, it was time for a change.
Wheels are BC Forged MEH25's in 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 sizes. 245/40/18 and 275/35/18 Nitto NT555G2 rubber.

My 1964 Le Mans convertible sports a set of Hurst 14x6” wheels, which have 3.825” of backspace shod with 215/75-14 Coker Classic wide white radials all around.
All Hurst wheels came in the 14x6” size. Hurst never got around to offering any other sizes before the last ones were sold in 1969. Hurst wheel information and pictures: https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...d.php?t=748136 Suspension is all stock with new rubber bushings, retaining the original narrow 1964 rear axle. Stopping is improved with a manual (personal preference) 1970 Firebird 1” bore dual master cylinder and 1969 GP 11” front disc brakes that didn’t require any wheel spacers or modifications to accept the Hurst wheels. The power steering box is from a 1979 WS6 Trans Am which reduces the number of turns lock to lock from 4-1/2 down to 3 turns and still provides a tight turning radius. Handling is improved with a 1-1/4” 2nd-gen T/A front sway bar and a later A-body 7/8” rear sway bar and boxed lower control arms. Koni shocks in front with KYB gas in the rear round out the nice riding suspension on this cruiser.

I have been doing maintinance and keeping car rustfree takes a lot of body shop hours here in Norway if you want to use the car regadles off weather.
Engine out topend rebuild, new fuel system etc. In short more pressing matters than new rims. but finally i am there, except 1/2 the shipment got lost. they are actively searching for the rear rims (UPS) summit has orderd new replacemt rear rims but ETA on shipment is 30.09.2026. I just hope they find the rear rims as they have been taxed into Norway, but lost after that. I can post what i got so far: American racing VN 514 i black. Fronts 18x8" ET0 with continental premium contact 6 235/45-18 Still to come: 18x10 ET0 with Gripmax semi slick 285/40-18 Front has Ridetech streetgrip dual rate spring advertised 1,5" drop (no longer aviable) they now only sell the 2" drop version, and bilstein B6 shocks, it looks as if i need to drop the front anoter 1-1.5" as i have changed to aluminum heads, alu radiator electric fans and removed the old suitcase AC system and condenser, dryer - the works. Rims and tiers seems to be of good quality, 1 rim and tire balanced perfectly no weigths at all, the other needed 20 grams. ![]() ![]()

At last! replacemt shipping from summit arrived, once they sendt out replacement wheels it got here fast. I did have to use a BFH on the seatbelt bulge, i did a quick lap around the shop to check for clerance, no rubbing so far, but even after using a BFH i can get a lubed up finger between the seatbelt hump and the tire if i use some force, maybe 1/2" - 3/4" clerance.

245 45 18 front on 18x8 inch wheels, and 285 40 18 rear on 18x10 wheels. Lowered a bit and clears everything after BFH on seat belt bumps. After rears are finished will see if the same hammer can make room for 295 40 18.
