Charles' 67 GTO is still in the family. His son has it now.
God bless you Charles. For those that never had the chance to see him in person.

I took Dad's GTO to Ft. Worth, TX this weekend to the Goodguy's show at Texas Motor Speedway. The drive up here was good except that I picked up a rock chip that spread out overnight before I could get it fixed. Now I have to replace the windshield.
The show itself was really good. We got some great spots to sit and watch so many cool cars and trucks drive by. I love seeing people's reactions when I tell them that Dad bought the car brand new in 67. I did get the opportunity to drive the car on the Nascar track, I highly recommend that you do it, if you ever have the opportunity. I had to sandbag it a little so that I could play catch-up, and was able to top out at 85 MPH in the turns. So much fun! Cool that you got to drive it on the track. I'm curious, how do you think your Dad would have reacted to that experience?

Greg, I think he would have been excited. It would have been better to him if I were able to drive it at Indy. When he was younger, Indy was the only race that mattered in his eyes.

I'll be driving the GTO to Nashville, TN in about a month to attend the Triple Crown of Rodding show. It's just a good excuse to put another 1500 or so miles on her. If any of you are planning on going, I'd love to meet up with you.
It should be a good show with a LOT of big name hot-rodders in attendance. Hopefully, I'll get to meet some of these hot rod heroes that I've read about in magazines all of my life. Sept. 8-9, 2023 - Nashville SuperSpeedway https://triplecrownofrodding.com/

Steven, I wish I could be in Nashville to see you and the car again. My wife and I had many good times with Charles and Millie, and I even had a chance to drive his (now yours) car. I too am so happy that you have his car!
I hope you have the chance to meet some of your heroes. Dave |

We had a mostly great trip to Nashville for the Triple Crown of Rodding show. Easily the best show that I've been to, and the highest quality cars that I've ever seen, I highly suggest that you attend if you are able.
On the drive up there, about 80 miles from our hotel, the ignition coil went out with the cruise set @ 70 MPH. I've never had a coil go bad while driving before, it backfired more violently than I would have imagined. I was scared that the timing chain had jumped a tooth or broke at first. After sitting on the side of the interstate for 4.5 hours in the dark waiting on a tow truck that never came, a buddy and his son came with an empty trailer and got us to the hotel. The next morning, we went to an O'Reilly's and got a cap, coil, and rotor and she fired up and purred like a kitten again. Now that it is home again, I'll order better quality parts, 2 of everything so I can carry spares in the trunk! Other than the previously mentioned snafu, the only other issue was the master A/C relay on the firewall started getting stuck closed making the blower motor stay on even with the key off. Now that I've gotten the relay contacts to open, they won't close again. I've ordered new connectors for the relay because it was slightly melted from the heat and current. But I can't find a GM or Delco relay to replace the bad one. Does any one have a GM or Delco part # that I can search for? Or is the Ames reproduction unit a good quality relay? Part # M156YD At the show, I was approached by several people that thanked me for keeping the GTO all Pontiac. They were even more blown away when I told them that Dad bought it brand new and I was almost born on the front seat. All in all, we had a great weekend, and I can't wait to do it again.
