Found 1964 GTO spinner hubcaps and wheels
Hello,
I was directed to inquire here by a member of the GTO Forum after posting there. I would appreciate any expertise. Original Thread:https://www.gtoforum.com/threads/fou...ubcaps.143064/ I was at estate sale digging around in an attic and uncovered original Cragar SS wheel boxes. I opened the boxes hoping to find some NOS Cragars but what was inside was a set of black steel wheels with Pontiac spinner hubcaps. I was amazed at the condition, besides a little dust they looked like new. I brought them home and did some research and I looks like they are from a 1964 GTO. The Cragar boxes are labeled with marker "Sold to D** 1965" so I'm assuming the Pontiac wheels were put in the boxes at that time after they swapped to the Cragars. That would explain the condition. The wheels are stamped 14x6JK with what looks like a 8(?) 63 below that. My question is regarding the value of these as I am looking to sell them. I am far from an expert on parts like these so I was hoping to get some input on a fair market price for the set of hubcaps and wheels. I will include some photos I took. I didn't even polish them, just rinsed the dust off. |

There are '64 GTO people looking for these wheel covers. The selling price should be at least $1200, maybe more. .
The wheels, with the 14X6JK, also should fetch several hundred dollars.

Those ‘64 Custom wheel disc have always been in high demand.
The 4 14x6 steel wheels are even harder to locate in a matched set. You have some valuable items there. PS, it would help to see photos of the backside of the caps for wear, rust.

I'm 99% certain those are originals. I have originals and unused reproductions from the 80's/90's. The reproductions are super nice, but when set next to originals, the color is slightly different. Also the cutout in the back where the valve stem goes through is not as rounded as the originals. The vent holes on the reproductions are not stamped as definitively either, but not at all noticeable unless compared to original.

Here are a couple comparison pictures. The one with the rustier back is the reproduction that has been on my car for 25+ years
#1 reproduction on left, original on right. Note the shape of the valve stem hole #2 reproduction on bottom, original on top. Not the cutout for the valve stem hole is much bigger on the reproduction #3 reproduction valve stem hole is more oval and not as clean as original |

The wheels are one year only . because of the code at the valve stem . there is a date on the inside near other codes you show that shows the year of production. look hard it does not always stands out.
wheels are at least two hundred a peace and don't break the set The market is small. there are few people that are that concerning . 64 to 66 are the same wheel. only the codes are different and of course the date the Kelsey Haze wheels most likely will only be for a car other than a Fremont build |
