Supercharger and Distributor Clearance
What's the largest Supercharger you've seen with the distributor in the stock location? 8/71? 10/71? 14/71?

I believe George was able to package a 8/71 supercharger as was twooldgoats but that is purely an assumption.

Why not offset it or run it off the front? Limited on room?

I was looking at running a belt drive and running the distributor in front but I'm concerned about the blower belt and pulley being in the way. Anyone ever mock something like that up?

I know I can run an 8/71. Dill and GTO George do but CAN I go bigger? That's really the goal.

Talk to Probird, He runs a large 5 liter per revolution Whipple Supercharger and might be able to help you out.

I ran a 8/71 with BDS manifold. Small diameter msd cap will fit.

If a person were to use a crank-triggered ignition, an original distributor could be "chopped & sectioned", since all it would need to do would be to distribute the spark to the plugs- it would easily fit under the rear of even a 14-71! [14-71 mounting is identical to 6-71, etc.]

Exactly! I run a 10-71 blower with a modified Wenzler Gutsram and a crank trigger and the distributor (unchopped) fits under the blower. With a shorter intake, the distributor could be cut down to fit. A lot of these issues are covered in the thread about my supercharger build: https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...n+alky+tempest Jim
