80 T/A dealer car in Illinois with an insane asking price of $40K. The hood scoop on this car is the absolute worst. It looks like someone put a microwave on the hood intentionally trying to obstruct the view. Back in the late 70's and 80's anything that was monster was considered cool. Dual quads on a tunnel ram... F'yeah. Today, you can get more power without punching it up through the hood. The objective on this engine was to build it as tall as possible... bad move IMO.

It looks nice, but $225K for a car like that is beyond stupid. Who knows, there may be $90K in bodywork?

78 Firebird Esprit at $8K in SC with a BIN of $13.5K. Not my cup O tea, but it supposedly has 44K original miles. The seats looks pretty good, so maybe?

Its a nice looking esprit but the 305 SBC ruins it for me. But it does look like a low milage original car, for a reasonable BIN price.

Weird run on low mileage Firebird Esprits. 79 Firebird Esprit with so ugly it's cool "Red Bird" option at $12.6K BIN in Florida with 41K original miles. The link is broken showing any interior or engine pictures, but it does have a beloved (by me) red interior. What would you do with this car if you owned it? I would leave it alone, but I wouldn't really want it. I would feel guilty swapping engines in this car with 41K original miles. If I did, I'd drop in a Chevy crate 350, only because it's really much less expensive. This car doesn't need to go that fast, but it should go faster. You could easily put together a 350 crate engine at 250 HP for prolly less than $4K... with a warranty. Put the original motor on a stand and sell it with the car if you do sell it. The car would be fast enough to have some stones and look retro... if that was your thing. These cars were made to target a female demographic. Without the red wheels and maybe some 17 inch Honeycomb aluminum rims it would be cool enough to drive around. But... you know maybe remove the decals by the rear window? Wouldn't that be a sin to do on a car with this low of mileage? ...I would remove them.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/20417040095...Bk9SR_Dfjq6ZYQ The 17" Honeycombs on the 72 Trans AM below would make this car look so much better. Last edited by thews; 11-30-2022 at 08:02 PM. |

Rusty 77 Can Am at $4.5K reserve not met BIN $9.8K in Missouri with no engine/transmission. It has the rear wing and I think that's the super hard piece to find.

Wow... this looks like no joke on the value of the mid to late 70's Firebirds going down. This one rocks though and it looks like a very reasonable deal to me and i would have guessed it was worth more. 75 Firebird Limited Edition (I'm not familiar with what that option group came with) in Michigan with 53K original miles (dealer car) at $17.9K BIN. I've combed many junkyards backin the day and haven't seen that hood before. Really sharp car. I'd drive this one as is.

Here's one I find interesting. 1968 NM Mystic teal Firebird 350 HO 4-speed dealer car at $71K (yikes!) in Pennsylvania. Cool options, but IMO they took it too far away from stock. The groovy wheels, waterbed steering wheel, chrome under the hood, gauges in the center console, etc., make it just another hod rod and the fact that it's NM doesn't mean much. Nice enough car, but waaaaaay too much IMO. FWIW I do like the 400 hood,
https://www.ebay.com/itm/12564468163...Bk9SR4qF49WaYQ FWIW most people put a 400 hood on these cars. The pic is a stock 350 HO. I like the 350 hood and both of my 69 350HO's have stock 350 hoods. I also have an original 400 hood from a 68 and when I have the car painted I'll paint both hoods, but I plan on changing the "400" to "350" on the 400 hood. 69 350 HO in Kentucky at BIN $25.5K. I own 2 69 Firebird 350HO converts and have searched the web often looking for data on these cars. For those that don't know, the 69 Firebird 350 HO had no external badgeing/stripes/hood etc. to distinguish it from a base 350 car. The air cleaner was not chrome and the valve covers were painted. The engine on this car is most stock 69 Firebird 350 HO I've ever seen. Would look so much better with the stock Rally II's. Also has no power FDB... not sure if PS was an option on these cars? I replaced the stock power steering box on my 69 350HO with one out of an 80 WS6 Trans AM. It makes the steering wheel move a lot less to do what you what the car to do.
