well, I'm not a fan of drilling holes in things but the few sets I've seen replaced are always held on with pop rivets. I'd paint the heads black though, it bugs me seeing the rivet heads if you look close enough at the right angle.

My sweeps came with little tiny screws to install them.

I think I actually drilled the necessary holes and used stainless lock wire .... like staples with a knot in them
That allowed me to pull the wire tight for a good connection.

i used auto windshield glass glue. taped it in place and done. no rivets, staples or screws. the next owner will have a heck of a time removing them.

Small screws for mine. Seems more likely to stay tight and in place to do the job it's supposed to.

for those mentioning little screws for the inner window sweeps, these sweeps attach to the plastic top rail of the door panel, the screws are for the outer sweeps that go into the metal frame of the door. short screws dont really have enough thread length to attach them securely to plastic for any real world use. even if they were longer, screws can easily strip out in plastic.
the best way to attach these sweeps is how the factory did it with staples, the correct staples are available in the link i posted above or if you still have the originals they can usually be removed & reused if not too rusty. |

Why would you knowingly do that? Just lazy and it was nearby and the car is likely to be flogged off again before you need to deal with it again? Here's another handy tip. Instead of removing harnesses by unplugging them, simply cut them, saves so much time.

You do it your way and I'll do it my way. As far as your smart assed comment about wires, the harnesses are more easily removed when wires are cut. then remove the connectors, but only if you are replacing the harness with a new one. Besides isn't that why they invented BUTT CONNECTORS??? Mario64 |
