My car is obviously a '70 but my TKX went in with no mods using the Qwik Stik shifter.

Thanks for the information. Do you happen to have any pic of this? I went back and forth with emails to Jeff at Silver Sport about a shifter for the TKX and he would not sell me one as his words, the tranny needs machine work for it to be installed. I did have there mods done on my existing TKO and there shifter. Worked very nice. One other thing I learned is that the TKO and TKX do not share the same shifter plate. So they are not inter changeable.

No, I ordered the TKX as shipped from Tremac with no upgrades. I ran the TKO-600 with no mods at 600 H/P and torque and never an issue. No tack times though. As far as transmission, a friend Richard Guido runs a T56 in his turbo-ed 65 GTO, at 8.75 @164 mph. He was just at Sick-week in Florida. Depends what your plans are for the car, which transmission you go with. https://stickracing.com/richard-guido-driver-profile/

Thanks for the post. Any pics? Did you mount it in the forward or backward position on the tail-housing? I believe that is the same shifter I ordered.

It's in the rear position. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of it.

This is marketed as a setup for the early Corvettes. I went a different way and reworked the stock shifter to offset over. |

Thanks for the pics. looks similar to the way Silver Sport did my TKO. They had to cut the shifter tunnel like the pic. They now saying that is not necessary for 70-81. Tranny shows up Monday so I'll see how it works out. Thanks again.
Be nice to see a pic of the attachment to the shifter rail.

They are correct, those mods are not even necessary. Now with the smaller TKX trans things have gotten even easier. You just need the shifter with the correct offset and it's a drop in deal.

I had a Kiesler SS700 with the shifter mod that Silver Sport does today which they continued after Silver resurrected the company so to speak. Kiesler modified a T45, and Silver adapted it to the TKO then the TKX. When the Keisler bit the dust and parts for a T45 are a pain to get I put a TKX in to replace it. But, this time I went with an unmodified TKX for two reasons, 1. shifter parts are proprietary and 2. I didn't want any aggravation if I decided to put the tranny in a different car(currently in a 71 TA). I do have a slight leak at the rear of the trans since day one. I replaced the rear seal twice and still have a slight leak. Quite frankly I never thought about the shifter possibly being the source, but now I will investigate. I am currently using a White Lightening shifter and it rattles at about 2000 RPM under load. When I say load, slightly giving gas to maintain speed. Thankfully it does not rattle in fifth.
