1971 Vinyl Dash insert PN A272M
Purchased this vinyl dash insert and it looked good but did not fit. It is about 1/6" too long so no matter which end you started laying down first, you would have excess at the other causing alignment issues of the openings or cutouts. The only way to make it fit would be to remove a small vertical section. You only learn this after removing the backing from the adhesive side and attempting the install and after that it is too late to save the insert. After over an hour of attempting to get it on right, I balled it up and threw it away totally frustrated. Also had no instructions with it so that was no help.

Mr. G, we note in our online catalog as well as in the printed version that some trimming may be required for optimum fit. Sadly this is the nature of both dash and console inserts; they will not always fit perfectly without a little work. With that being said, I'd still like to help you out with a replacement. Please feel free to email me at kyler@amesperf.com.
Thank you, Kyler @ Ames

As I stated in the original post, trimming will not fix this issue. You would need to cut the insert vertically between the heater control opening and the right gauge opening. Then you would need to cut a vertical strip about 1/6 of an inch wide out and then attach to the bezel with a seam running from top to bottom in the insert. that is not a little trimming, that is completely re-configuring the insert to make it fit. Unless these inserts have a variance in sizing, there is no point in sending me another one as it will just be a replay of what I just went through attempting to install this insert. I am looking for another maker of these inserts that may actually fit the bezel.
