.004 blower to intake gap
Sorry if I can’t do this but I’m posting a new thread on kind of the same Q..
I had a blower to intake vacuum leak and I checked it out.. I pulled the blower gasket out and I checked the gap between the blower and intake without the gasket and bolted and rebolted the blower down to give an almost real-life-scenario, .004 is the gap I have between the blower case and intake without the gasket and bolted down, I went to .005 and the gauge wouldn’t gap, is this exceptable clearance?… Tia |

Not sure I understand. Is there a .004" gap in just one spot, thus indicating a lack of flatness?

Yes, in the very back about an 1” in length from side to side between blower case and intake pretty much in the middle about where the distributor is… this time the gasket did not rip it was leaking air and i looked back on my purchase records to see the thickness gasket is and it’s 1/32 maybe it’s to thin so I ordered one that is 1/16

You will be fine with the thicker gasket and like I posted a light bead of sealer, and yes retorque the 8 bolts after the first heat up and cool down session
I would however like to know if it's the Blower case that has warped or the Intake Manifold back there?

Although I never had a problem with 1/32" gaskets, I have a spare that is .046" thick. It says "Interface Performance Materials MP-2N". I think it came from The Blower Shop.
If you do use any sealer, just use it around the blower outlet, not around the perimeter of the blower.
