New Personal Best
After changing my underwear, I grabbed my time slip and I ran a 9.081 at 147.0
My previous personal best was 9.19 at 143. All I did was take off my wheelie bars and lower the launch from 5000 to 4600 I’m really dying to get in the 8s. I know the car is capable. I know if I launch at 5000 now that my wheelie bars are not unloading my wheels, I can get it but I’m not sure I wanna stand it up more then what it’s doing now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

1.23 60 foot, must have been a blast.
You have 8s in that thing, just keep doing what you are doing. Going to need a parachute ! |

Congrats to ya!
Your in a tuff spot I guess. Since the idea is to go forwards faster and not necessarily waste time going up a lot hinges on if you do not need to rise up as far as you do, yet still get the needed level of weight transfer to maintain traction. Then there's the consideration that if you go up higher on the start of a faster run you migh come down hard enough to hit the pan or your headers, andthen your fun day is over. You need to talk to folks on here who are running faster then you, and when I use to wrench on a buddy's car we on,y got to a best of 9.13, Keep plugging away and you'll get there and then be able to guide other folks where you where once in the dark.

Congrats!
Nice launch. What rear setup do you have? Try adjusting the bars lower for less hit at the launch?

Wow, Beautiful car. Care to tell us about your setup. specs. What converter? Thanks I would find a way to keep that front end on the ground.

Glad to hear the earlier upshift promoted a quicker time. Means (to me) you are working the Converter's TQ multiplier.
I think the sooner ya get into 3rd, and still on the Converter's TQ peak, the harder the acceleration from the HP. Power is Power, but gotta let it eat. Great photos ! |

Find a good chassis shop around you and bring the car there for evaluation. They should be able to get you down the track with minimal front end lifting in the 1.18 range with those tires. Shocks and bar angle are critical

I have a 9 inch. I’ve played with the bars and taking them off resulted in a faster ET by a 10th. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I believe he was referring to ladder bars or 4 link. Lowering the bar will soften the hit.

You don't want a chassis car launching like that. As stated by others you want to go forward and not up. Some pitch rotation is helpful but that's excessive and is going to end up causing you trouble long term. Tighten the front struts. Get the wheelie bars back on there and assure they are adjustable to the range required to settle down the front end. Get to a good track and test with someone who knows how to tune a chassis car suspension. As a last resort you can hang weight on the front end. I'm guessing there is another 1-2 hundredths to be found in your 60'.

I cut my rear bumper so I can raise the wheelie bars up some, also switched to 4.29 in the rear. Going to see how much it helps, my starting line ratio is 11.30 with the 4.56 , with the 4.29 it will be 10.60. I know it’s not much difference but it was a cheap option to try. Buddy let me use the gears to see what happens. I’ll get it figured out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Will be interesting to find that the ET improves with 4.29s.
As if the Converter gets to TQ multiply more, and the Engine welcomes the increased load. Last edited by Half-Inch Stud; 04-08-2023 at 11:17 AM. |

Since the bars are in the bottom hole you are going to have to tighten up the front end or limit the front end travel. Limiting the travel makes a huge difference.
