I think I recently read that the Gardner(?sp) exhaust might come with them... ??

That aside, Ames are the only game in town.

Besides, of course finding good originals and sending for re-chroming.

Didn't mention before that the stainless end is not magnetic, as you'd expect. But as you move a magnet closer to the top end it starts sticking and is totally magnetic at the narrowed down top end. No doubt these are two piece construction.
Guess you could call these "nice 10 footers". But I didn't pay 200 clams for 10 footers.

If you're otherwise happy with the shape/surface of those ... a good chrome shop could make the forming marks at the top end go away. And the tips would end up with a much nicer finish on them. I know you hate paying for something that's "chromed", and then chroming them again, but a used set in decent shape needing a re-chrome would cost that much, too.

The ones on my car are stainless, that I've polished. Not as nice as good chrome, but most people wouldn't notice.

Yeah polished is good. If I find good set I'll have rechromed maybe but I think they starting to band chrome so next options cut the 45 degree to.22 or repop.and polish. Lazy option is run 45 degree

Yes. I don't know where they came from though. And, I think the clamp marks were from holding the pipe to swage down the end.

I just called . They have chrome tips but your right it's about a 2k system bolt on. I honestly hope to find just chrome tips and run an x pipe system if possible and a borla exhuast manifold that's quite and flows good. But I'm not sure yet it's to far ahead of me. Thanks for link Mike. There system is 100% stock I guess when I take engine e out I can ask for grouos opinion and advice.

stock system is 2-1/4", it's a pretty good setup for a street car IMHO.

I just purchased the exhaust tips, I actually talked to the owner, now I did buy a system about 8 years ago though, should have them on Monday, around 300 for the pair and 30 for shipping. I did ask when I called if they just sell the tips and he said yes, I think they had one set left after I bought a set. They make the tips there, and have a local chrome shop plate them. I can put up some pictures when I get them if anyone want to see them.
