Hood Scoop Pan
Curious what you guys think, I have a very large scoop on my car to clear my tiger intake, but I was approached this weekend at the track, was told if I sealed off the carb to scoop I could potentially gain a .10th. Now I’m pretty skeptical on that, but as everyone knows. I’m dying to get that 8.99.. Fastest 1/8 was 5.71 at 121 and 1/4 at 9.08 at 146.00 with 900 hp and 3000 pound car, I’m still determined I have something not working right. There thery was that I’m not using the cold forced air down my carb because it’s going out the back, while the car is sucking in hot engine air.

A UNI pan filler might work well for you. Seen one on a 8 second NA sbc a few years back and bought one.

I've had cars where it made a difference, and also where it didn't. Those that did it was significant. 1-2mph in the quarter mile. I've also experienced an air cleaner helping significantly, 1.5 mph in a car that would run 160+ in the quarter. I believe it usually helps when it straightens/calms the air flow entry to the carb.

I would put a drop base on it to smooth out the air to the carb and seal that to the scoop. Definetly worth around a tenth and a little more that 1 mph on my car

Had my dominator sealed to the bottom of my hood using an air cleaner base and foam. Forward facing scoop. It was worth a little less than a tenth over no scoop.
I can tell you with complete confidence that your ET drops from single digits to the mid 20s when you accidentally leave the scoop plug in for a run and your sealing efforts were unexpectedly good. oops!

So after watching Mr. Vizard, does anyone use a Dominator Stub Stack along with a sealed forward facing scoop? Seems interesting....

I used a moroso air pan that may be similar to the width...foam will be your friend to seal

I used a lexan scoop with no hood and picked up .14 of a second. I can’t wait to see what it does with a hood on it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
