Thermostat valve
Where are all the thermostat valves? I need ( want ) one for a '65.
Is there any after market pieces? |

I guess most of them has eroded beyond usage. Mine did.
Thinking of making a hole with 3/8"-18 dryseal thread in a cover plate and mount a ported thermal vacuum switch, like SMP PVS7 or similar, in it. |

They must have been pretty crappy switches, dad said this one quite a long time ago.

Thanks, mine is really nice looking, just nothing inside it. It's going to get epoxy filled and bolted back on with the lines still running to it. Functional, yet not like it was designed.

Dad said it quit many years ago, he drove the car without working so it wasn't a big deal. I'm just fixing them up so he can look at.

Wouldn´t this eliminate opening of the secondary carbs?

NO, you leave enough open so the vacuum passes right through both ports. The epoxy is just to insure no coolant gets through. Dad said that was the problem with his, coolant seeped in and gummed up the works, finally corroding it enough it seized up.

Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
I´m running mine with the thermal-valve bypassed and a cover plate were it sat. FWIW |

This is nothing more then a cover plate with two hose ports. We want to look correct.
