For a couple years during Covid the FedEx distribution center in my area was a black hole if it went to Perrysburg it was lost or late guaranteed.

Everything was critical and we used our own vehicles. Mostly human transplant organs / bone marrow , etc.. and AirCraft Parts . Every so often we would get calls to do botched or semi-botched UPS , FedX , DHL next day or same day stuff they couldn't complete on time. Several times it was those boutique steaks . They would lose money any time they hired us but we delivered as promised. |

One time FedX left my RockAuto order on the porch of a house down the street from me.
House was boarded up on all doors and windows with a cable across the driveway. And was an even number address opposed to my odd number address. Found it there the next afternoon after checking with other neighbors. My normal FedX woman has done great for many years . She was out sick a couple days when that happened. |

I very rarely get anything shipped via FedX, but I recently bought a replacement gold wedding band for the one I lost after wearing it for 41+ years. It came from California to my home in Georgia in 3 days. My wife had gone out to do a little shopping and left the garage door up. When she returned home I just happened to be letting the dog out and looked in the garage to see a small package laying on the floor right where she would have parked. It was the gold ring. Luckily I was able to stop her before she ran over it. UPS and USPS always walk up and leave the packages on the covered front porch.

I'm in semi-rural SW Ohio, have only had a few complaints. They've started delivering between 4-6am, its nice to have the security camera wake you up to what is obviously not a crisis.
I often work from home, and if I'm in the garage in the summer when they arrive, I offer them a bottle of water, and have never been turned down. Just being polite. Fedex, Amazon, UPS, no real difference that I've found.

Recently, FedEx dropped a case of transmission fluid at the bottom of my driveway. Like B-man, mine is ~150' up an incline. No reason he couldn't have navigated his way up the driveway to the garage. Seems they do that all the other times when they drop off.
