Difficulty opening hood
Good morning, all,
Having trouble opening my hood on my 69. First off, doesn’t pop up well. Have to work at getting my fingers in between. Weak springs? Or weak popup rod? Main problem, latch doesn’t open all the way, I really have to work at it with pulling the handle. Weak latch spring? Maybe I need a new latch assy? Thank you, Jim |

Inspect the latch receiver (circled in photo) in the hood. Make sure that the spot welds are still holding and the receiver can't move side to side in the hood stiffener.

I'd put the resistance more in the rivets/bushings on the hinge frames than the springs getting weak. had a friend send out a set of hinges for new bushings and rivets and it was amazing how smooth and easy that hood came up afterwards.
that's expensive though. for mine it's some WD40 and work the hood up and down to loosen the hinges up a bit! |

Hood alignment to the latch assembly is a common cause of the hood not popping.

seeing the pics from the original post it appears there's abrasion/ rubbing on the one side of the latch assy- perhaps it's binding here with the engine hood when closed? It may be worth looking into trying to adjust this latch position.
