Default New member, Build thread 1967 Clone, 428 4 speed munci / Seeking advice

JUST got the car five months ago This would be my 5th Pontiac but nicest and final one.

Car specs

1967 Lemans/GTO clone. A/C, Power windows, Rear window defrost, Windshield washer.

Engine: Internal build specs unknown at this time. I HAVE NO PING ISSUES.

Engine : 1968 428 Block
Heads : 1969 #62 Heads 2:11 Intake 1:66 Exhaust 72CC Polly locks.
Cam: 068 or variant
Intake : 1966 Tri Power
Ignition Accell HEI
Headers Dougs long tube

Transmission Munci 4 speed M20 Wide ratio

Rear end 8.2 10 Bolt open differential 2:96 Rear shop confirmed.... weird ratio

Story: Long story short bought it from a ford guy, The person he bought it from built it in 2015 no specs and car sat in the shop hardly driven. Engine had 3,000 miles on it since rebuild. I did what I could, Needed a clutch and valve seals in it and i took it to a big flashy muscle speed show in Atlanta and they messed it up BAD........ I drove the care 1,500 miles with no issues at all. I took it for a clutch and valve seals because it sat and I wanted it ready for the summer.

$2,500 later ... I go to leave the shop and the Number 8 Rocker arm FELL OFF ! Bent push rod and valve guide plate ... and they told me the transmission was poping out of first and fourth gear..... wasnt before.

They fired that tech and I asked "please go over everything that guy touched"... they assured me but did NOT. number 8 lifter is tapping even after adjustment. The trans slowly started buzzing making all kinds of noise and slipping out of 4th after they said they adjusted it.

took it to another shop for inspection and the previous shop did not put the shif linkage bushings back in and did not put TRANS FLUID back in the trans ... I had 1 inch of fluid in the case.

I bought a NEW M20 from the gear box transmission. It is currently getting put in with a NEW Clutch kit from butler because that shop also put in a CHEVY throw out bearing and wrong bolts...

I am uploading pics of the oil change I just did yesterday for advice if I should pull the motor and do a rebuild.

First is your problem with the valve train still there? You definitely need to check the whole valve train. Also if it makes you more comfortable pull the engine and check the bearings. You could also send out a sample of the oil and have it analyzed for what is in it. By the way there is no such thing as a Chevy throw out bearing. Throw out bearings are selected by what pressure plate you are using.

Yes, what I mean by that is when they bought the kit from summit, it says for Chevy, BOP, Buick

I called butler because it was making a knocking noise in the clutch area and they said those kits are not universal and often come with an incorrect "Chevy" throw out bearing .

I'm a nooooooob so I don't know 🤷*♂️ all my other Pontiacs were th350 and th400s

The valve train is fixed. Except that tapping by the intake number 8, hard to tell if it's the trans thing, it's the Bronz I'm worried about :/ was such a great running issue.

Pan leaks in the back, could be rear main from sitting I was told I have to take the engine out ? For the pan then I was like well since I probably have to change that lifter ... new cam right ?

And now that I see the particles in the oil I'm like well this is getting very very expensive... especially after just purchasing the car 5 months ago ... haven't recover yet ... :/
