Header wrap/motor mount question
Looking to replace my stock reproduction motor mounts on a 65 GTO with a 68 400. Launch car off of a transbrake at about 4,000 - 4,500 rpm. Currently a 12.0x car but chipping away at it.
Butler recommends the following set but states "if using headers a heat shield or header wrap to keep heat away from the Poly mounts as excessive heat may cause the poly to melt or deteriorate". Butler Performance Pontiac Polyurethane/Stainless Steel Interlocking Engine Mount, 64-72 GTO, Set BPI-2255-6P https://butlerperformance.com/i-2445...tegory:1393554 Any one using these and what did you use to combat any heat issues? Thanks DV |

Never had any heat issue with mounts. Everything I have ever heard about header wrap is to stay away from it. Unless you like rusted headers.

I melted the driver side one on the chassis dyno with Doug's headers. Added a metal heat shield around these motor mounts and no issues since....
