Keep in mind that these cars ran hot in hot weather when they were new. And a convertible is far more enjoyable driving with the top down in the cooler weather. :-)
Also, many people overfill these vertical flow radiators and they will spit out coolant when overfilled. The proper coolant level should be just barely over the flow tubes and not up to the cap. That sure is a beautiful car! One of my favorite '66 color combos. I would love to see some better quality high resolution photos of all around the car sometime if you have the ability to post them to an offsite photo source like Google Photos. |

Regarding the original radio not working, do you hear a light "pop" from the speaker when you turn it on? And have you checked to see if the factory harness connector is still plugged into the back of the radio? It's possible that they unplugged it and used it for powering the aftermarket unit. The most common issue with these old radios is that the speakers fail and need to be rebuilt.

Ted, She looks really good.
I saw you were given the 1966 FISHER BODY MANUAL. In it is a troubleshooting/test section for the folding top. I would use it to figure out the top/motor issue. It may be something simple. They're a pretty basic setup. Cheers

I would start by inspecting/replacing the radiator cap. That could make a huge difference for not much $$$. You can find volumes of stuff on here about engine cooling.

The following is a public service announcement...
Seriously, this is what I found a while back about fixing pic orientation. Not sure it's the easiest/best. But works like a charm. "Most of the pictures we upload are taken with a cellphone. If the photo is taken as a portrait (phone vertical) then uploaded, the site will present it in landscape mode, which of course is sideways. There's a pretty easy work-around for this: First the picture will have to be uploaded to a Windows computer. After that open the file with Paint, rotate the picture 90 degrees clockwise, then 90 degrees counter-clockwise, then save. Upload that picture to the forum and it will stay vertically oriented. Don't ask me how it works, but it does. The simplest plan is to always take the pictures meant for posting in landscape mode, but if you have one that insists on posting sideways this trick should correct it." |

I noticed you have a hood insulation pad installed on your car, You might try removing it and see if the car runs cooler. I removed mine thinking I was going to gt the car repainted a few years back, but that didn't pan out. The insulation broke when I took it out so I said the heck with it. I will get one later.
But, I immediately noticed the car ran much cooler. Do you have any shrouding around the radiator?

Wow it looks Great ! Really Great
There was a dealer service over the counter radiator shroud for the Non-AC cars. Pretty sure it is reproduced in the catalogs. Second the suggestion of coolant just over the tubes inside radiator. It made it 70,000 miles with that set up , but no harm in getting it to cool even better. The radios are easy to remove and bench test. Spare speaker , and a metal clothes hanger plugged in as an AM antenna. Just need a 12v test light and the manual to diagnose the top. I'd either want it up 2 hairs in the rear , or down 2 hairs in the front. Its begging for a set of RallyOne wheels |

000 or 0000 steel wool cleaning of the windshield does wonders.
Follow with some high end car polish or Rain-X The wipers will glide even when dry. Do all my vehicles that way , old and new(er). |

If you get an aluminum radiator, PLEASE paint it black before install. Bare aluminum would detract from the originality underhood imo. I see pictures of these cars all the time with their new shiny radiators and you can see it through the grills.
