Intake gasket gap
I am almost done with the 350 rebuild. I was going to use the intake gasket that came with butlers kit. It’s the paper type with the blue ring around the ports. But if you look at the picture you can see the gap in the middle on each side of the cutout. Won’t this have exhaust leak back out ?
I bought the felpro ones that were on the engine when I torn it out down. It’s the ones that feel almost like there’s a thin metal layer in it. That has a Much smaller center cut out leaving no gaps. But people mentioned the butler one might compress better being that I have the aluminum edllrbrock performer intake. And standard heads. Any suggestions appreciated about that gap. |

Those gaskets are supposed to come with inserts that fit inside that big opening in the center to seal the crossover.
