That wire out of the Dizzy looks to be pulled pretty tight even without the advance plate moving like it will with the engine running.
Is it shorting out or making a poor connection?

I can see the pics you posted, notes and parts are not anything I built. But I do remember that was a cast iron body and the red stripe that was done by another builder. you had me check the curve against the notes from the builder and they did not match and was adjusted. Most common problem is simply pick up going bad or at some point not being wired properly to a full 12- volt source if you converted from breaker points. I can not tell from your pics if you have points or conversion magnetic pick up.

I do appreciate all the help i get from members, steve does go out of the way to help..............i did what he suggested today, the fuel shot was strong............ran the car 45 minutes no issues...............then let it ldle in the garage for 15 minutes..............no issues. Will do as you suggested and put the msd box in the glove box or under the pass side...............will get hold of jeff again to explain this to me better. So this is still somewhat a mystery for me..................because all i did different from when the car shut down twice, was add 20 bucks of new gas...........now two days in a row and cant get the same result as when it shut down. Im thinking i dont have a overheating issue......................while ideling for quite a while it never went over 190. Will get another distributor and just try to run the points............which i never was good at setting durning the 60"s............ As far as specs..........70 455 motor, kre heads, 295 cmf from SD, he port matched the tripower to the heads.............stock fuel system, never had a issue with it.....msd 6al box and ss blaster coil................never a issue with anything untill the last few days.........dont know what else to add. Will send pics to jeff, maybe he can explain the answer to steve question.........this set-up has been on for years, never a issue,. Rich |

LOL, jeff if you cant tell...................im really lost............ok in defense of this thread, im old and have crs...............well took the car out again for another half hour just now, no issues, so i have no idea on why it died twice the other day...............guess we can end this thread, im gonna get with Jeff and try to start out fresh with another distributor that he sets up. There’s something going on here between the stoppage twice in one day and then add fuel and having no issue.
I would not go thru the trouble and money out lay of changing the Dizzy unless it dies again and you confirm a no spark condition.

Had the same issue couple years back with points. Was a bad coil.
Start car and feel the wires connected to the positive side of coil. Are they getting hot, almost too hot to hold? Mine was just a bad coil, after removing and checking engine harness. Hope this helps
