/\ agreed.
I was there in (I believe it was) 2009; Loved it; By a long shot, the best show or car event I have ever attended.

Saw it posted in a forum which has very little traffic so I moved it to the Lobby with a permanent redirect, where it would be seen by the majority of members. So now it can be accessed from 2 different sub-forums.

I’ll be back tomorrow for the first time in too many years. I will be bringing my 21 year old son for the first time he is old enough to see what it is all about. My dad, me, my son, three generations of Pure Pontiac!

![]() My kids are hooked on old cars and trucks from frequent visits to the drag strip, car shows, and big Smokey burnouts in my GTO. Start em young. Hopefully you haven’t lost him to the tuner crowd already.

Geez at 21 I was already campaigning my own 12-second race car for about a year already.
It wasn’t a Pontiac but an air-cooled VW. ![]() I still have time slips from when I was 16 years old. ![]() First generation car guy hot rodder here. I was motivated by what I saw in car magazines and a couple of older teenagers in my neighborhood who were working on old cars before I got my drivers license. My dad always considered cars to be an appliance and not something to get excited about. Age 22 at Orange County International Raceway in 1981:

He was not thrilled when my first car in high school was a ‘66 GTO. I don't know where it came from, I guess I just progressed from my love of dirt bikes, to cars as I got older. NOBODY in my family is into old cars, that’s how I ended up with my grandfathers Mercury, nobody was interested in it!

My brother took this pic of Jeff Kauffman's dragster:

Beautiful weather here. Around 75 degrees all day, mostly sunny with slight breeze. Track prep is great. They're running Clemen's No Box right now. Two track records were broken today.

The weather is perfect around here for the show & I am sure it will be packed today! (I live 13 miles from the track)
Unfortunately this will be the 1st one I will not be able to attend in some time. I very much enjoy seeing friends from all over the country who come every year when I am not in such a hurry to get onto my next transport customer & can sit & "bench race" with many of them! Since my Wife's cancer diagnoses, spine surgery, radiation & upcoming chemo, she needs 24/7 care. I thought about bringing her in the wheel chair, but too much gravel & grass would bump her around too much (even though she would love to come again) I hope all my Pontiac friends & ALL members who attend have a GREAT weekend & I will see you all next year. God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...closed.614419/

I'm also going to miss this year, first time since 1995 I didn't make it..........
![]() Seems every vehicle I own broke down at the same time........ ![]() I'll be shooting for 2025 though........ ![]() I watched the latest installment of Pole Barn Garage, posted last night on You Tube, and as Bob has said, Dalton (the owner), was driving his Holey Goat to Norwalk this year. The bullet riddled 70 GTO that was used for target practice on a ranch in Texas, he resurrected back to street duty, and doccumented it on his channel. ![]() I would have liked to see the car in person, and meet the owner........

Got home safely. 32 yrs going. The good ,met friends I see once a year,Larry and Todd Sedlmyer,Jim Zeek,Jerry Brock, Jack Andersen,to name a few. Food was good .Track was clean. Had fun ,laughs, wine!. The bad, buddies 2006 Received 2nd in show. Sunday am it wouldn't move ,grinding gears.Slave cylinder fluid low so we thought add some. Nope. Now we think the cylinder is bypassing internally due to bad oring. Car had to be flat bedded back to Beaver Falls Pa. The ugly,we always get off Ohio pike at Rt 20 to 10. Fine going, coming back home fine. Went through tollbooth, all of sudden ramp east bound abig closed sign NO PRE WARNING that I saw or my buddy saw. So we went west bound to next exit made a U turn at booth and headed east. Why no forewarning that we could notice? Usually there is detour signs everywhere none.

We got home last night. It was wonderful time even though the Renegade Cat broke a header tube on Friday. Met and remet some of the most wonderful people in the pits with us. We had some of the greatest conversations with people at Walmart and Linders Field. LONG LONG wait at Linders Field to get into the track though. The swap meet was packed along with the car show. Someone picked up a real bad looking Grand Prix 428 4 speed car in the car corral and transported it out on Saturday morning. Poor thing was missing a lot of bodywork ! I picked up an almost flawless 15 " honeycomb trim ring for a very reasonable price Friday morning.
Great time to be had, if you have never gone to this you need to come and scratch it off your bucket list. |

. I was wrapping up the first restoration on my 1966 GTO at 21, so I get what you are saying. However, as the dad of three kids who all either played or are playing college sports, their upbringing was a lot different than mine.Norwalk somehow keeps getting bigger and better! My son came away wanting to add another car to our Pure Stock stable. So, we are on the hunt for a 1968 Firebird to build into a Pure Stock car to join my 1966 GTO that is currently being gone through to hopefully be ready for this years race. Norwalk Pontiac Nationals has to be the top event of its type in the entire country.

![]() Back when I was younger I wish I would’ve paid more attention to getting ready for my life as an adult. Somehow I made it through okay and I’m happy I still have the fond memories of being able to build fast cars and race them both on the track and on the street in my teens and early twenties.
