I must have an invisible black hole under my car. It sucks in everything I drop.
Putting the clutch fan on dropped 2 bolts, heard them hit the concrete. Gone nowhere in site. Dropped the cap for the new air cond. port, gone nowhere in site. A few other things disappeared once they hit the floor.

It must also suck in pencils, every time i put one down I lose it.

I am not getting that old to lose my mind yet.

I've got a pretty good background in physics and it still baffles me how a bolt dropped 3 feet can rocket 10 feet horizontally and go under a 1000 lb object with only 1" clearance to the floor.

Someone should investigate, could be a new source of energy.

Super bright LED lights help and strong magnets and long pick-up tools. Dropping things isn't going to improve with age! I bet I spend 20% of my time on most repairs looking for crap I dropped somewhere or a tool I have misplaced. Gravity wins every time.

Not car related. I replaced a microwave door handle. Dropped a screw. I saw it it so I though it couldn't have gone far. I found it later in the day. Four feet behind me and two feet around a corner. Kitchen floor is ceramic tile. It must have just been catching edges to do that. After I found it I test dropped it. I have no clue what metal it is made of but it bounced and skittered like an indian rubber ball.

All bets are off on a sloped driveway. I found one of my 'missing' sockets in the rain gutter in front of my neighbors house a few days after I dropped it.
And I learned early on to have a sheet of plywood when working over grass.

I have a different version of the black hole when my kids use my tools. Sometimes they do reappear if I check their toolbox.

Some years ago I started using a large rubber backed carpeted mat under my work zone on vehicles.
Black hole was taking up too much of my time too often.

Rolls up , and unrolls easily.
Used to be a big "entry / welcoming" mat at a BigLots store. About 3' x 6'
Have another one from an old Texaco gas station.
They come in handy

Some engineer is laughing, I knew if I put this hole right here it would fill with parts or tools and nobody would be able to find them.

I parted out a bunch of Firebirds, A-bodies, and Grand Prixs over the years. I could fill a tool box with all of the tools I found. Especially sockets.
