67 Firebird 326 4-speed in Illinois at $53.5K. Claims to have a "CONCOURS-LEVEL" restoration, which costs a lot. The problem is what you start with vs. what you wind up with. Do all that work to a plain Jane car, and no matter how nice it is, it's still a plain Jane. Nice and shiny tho. There's a lot of cars I'd rather have for this much coin.

The incorrect stuff is what kills it. Wrong center caps on the wheels, 400 hood, hood tach, Camaro spoiler, stupid ass sticker on the air cleaner, Not PFDB (safety should be #1) and some of the gaps are not crisp (look at the front bumper). 1) Make a plan 2) Execute the plan 3) If it makes you money roll with #2. If it's a negative ROI, it's not worth doing it. This car will prolly never be driven 100 more miles, because it's over restored. Nice car and really pretty, but $50K is a lot and we're heading into a recession. Lots of cool cars will pop up if that happens for much less. I used to detail cars when I was 17, and this one is outstanding on the wax job. Don't drive over that puddle, cause it'll take hours to get it back to where it was. Ever hear that joke about how not driving a trailer queen is like not sleeping with your gf? /notPCreference

Stickers are a cheap 'Performance' accessory

My theory is those stupid decals have been plastered on so many air cleaners for so long, people believe they are original equipment. Especially if they are a flipper or not familiar with Pontiacs

Here's an odd one... 69 Firebird convertible "restomod" at $3K with a reserve in Missouri. Typically the term restomod is used when the car is heavily modified, which is usually an engine swap. I wouldn't consider this car a restomod, but rather a basically stock car with one very poor decision, which is going with 69 Camaro seats. It's easily fixed with some new seat covers, but still?

This one looks like a fun car to build. 1954 Chieftain sedan delivery in Canada at $3.5K BIN (US $$). Needs everything with no drive train or interior, but it looks solid. Looks like someone started with the brakes, which is what you should do. PS/PFDB are a must on a car like this. If I owned a small business, I'd paint this and stick it out front while I worked on it. Originality goes out the window with a car like this. I'd find something in a junkyard for the drive train and interior and paint it. Super cool car.

The 67 clone above isn't awful but again, how in the hell do you install grille emblems on the quarters FFS? Google image is your friend!! It's as bad as the 72 Judge clone for sale now with the grille emblem misplaced and the Judge decals mounted on the leading edge of the doors because they wouldn't fit the fenders because of the 72 fender scoops, and the 73 Lemans/GTO clone with Judge stripes and decals. Yes, Judge stripes and decals on a 73......
The movie 'Idiocracy" was made as a spoof, but sadly it's becoming a documentary

Looks to be an all original Northern California car. Hot dry summers, mild winters. Easy restoration for someone.

On the Green 68 in Cali , would highly recommend a buyer to perform full diligence on the engine specs/codes.
Some things about it don't smell right. |

The carb appears to be a replacement, ballast resistor on the firewall. Vacuum lines all over the place except where they belong. Temperature sensor not connected.
What else did you notice BVZ? Tags are dated '92 so it's been awhile since registered.

All the improper and missing connections (wiring and vacuum) .
Some weird painted parts / bare parts. Smells of a jacked transplant. Minute details don't stick with me as well on some cars - but shouldn't a 68 Automatic have a ported vac switch in front on the intake - where this one is pipe plugged ? HO would have the big RA exhaust manifolds , and I don't think they were rated at 370hp Odd that PHS wasn't posted since it was stated to have it. Potential to be a great car at a certain price , if the engine passes scrutiny. |
