Default Vinyl roof install

Getting prepared to install a vinyl roof on my 67 GTO (had one from the factory). The roof was stripped to bare metal and some rust repair performed (surprise lol). It is currently in 2 coats of DP 90 epoxy. Do I need to topcoat the roof or will the epoxy suffice?

Not sure if it was best practice or not, but I left mine in SPI epoxy. Mine won't see much rain ... so it may depend on how the car will be used/stored.

I would think that a good coat of epoxy would be fine. I would not want to apply it to bare metal. The new vinyl should protect it from the elements and such, and if it will rust underneath from trapped moisture (if thats a problem) I dont think it matters what is under it. Look at it this way, how long did it take to rust originally?

I know that it is generally recommended to top coat as you would the rest of the body but it would seem to me that a couple coats of epoxy should be fine.....a hell of a lot better than what the factory did!
